New South Wales Government stands by Armenian Genocide resolution despite threats from "Moderate Turkey"

Barry O'Farrell slams Turkey's threat of Gallipoli ban as centenary ballot opens

ABC
Sat 16 Nov 2013,

The New South Wales Government has reacted harshly to reports the Turkish speaker of parliament has threatened to ban MPs from attending the centenary commemorations of the Gallipoli landing.

Tension between the NSW Parliament and Turkish authorities first erupted in May, when MPs passed a motion recognising the Armenian genocide.

Genocide scholars say that from 1915 to 1923 more than 1 million Armenians lost their lives at the hands of the Ottoman empire.

Turkey has long disputed it was genocide.

The Turkish speaker of parliament, Cemil Cicek, has reportedly called on the State Government to withdraw its resolution.

He says NSW MPs could be banned from attending the 2015 Anzac centenary at Gallipoli if action is not taken.

In a statement, Premier Barry O'Farrell said anyone associated with the Turkish government should not use the centenary for political purposes and labelled the comments "deplorable".

It comes after the ABC revealed that one of the world's most vocal Armenian genocide deniers is set to make an address at Parliament House in Canberra next week.

The address, titled "What happened during 1915-1923", will be given by Professor Justin McCarthy, an American history professor whom many Armenians view with the same disdain as Jews view Holocaust denier David Irving.

The 1915 Armenian Genocide – Why Is It Still Denied By Turkey (And The U.S.)?
posted by Donna Calvin

What do you call the 1915 “mass deportation” of Armenians from the Ottoman Empire (Turkey) that resulted in the death of 1.5 million people?
Most historians and Armenians around the world call it genocide. The Turkish government and the United States are not among those who will officially accept the word “genocide” when speaking of the decimation of the Armenian people in the early part of the 20th Century.

In his post on the genocide, (The Forgotten Genocide: Why It Matters Today) Raymond Ibrahim recounted the story of a woman who claimed to have witnessed the brutal crucifixion of 16 young girls.

In her memoir, Ravished Armenia, Aurora Mardiganian described being raped and thrown into a harem (which agrees with Islam’s rules of war).  Unlike thousands of other Armenian girls who were discarded after being defiled, she managed to escape. In the city of Malatia, she saw 16 Christian girls crucified: “Each girl had been nailed alive upon
her cross, spikes through her feet and hands, only their hair blown by the wind, covered their bodies.”  Such scenes were portrayed in the 1919 documentary film Auction of Souls, some of which is based on Mardiganian’s memoirs.

VOTE People : Labor Green Loons Refugee SCAM CONTINUES

Busted people smuggler to be considered for a protection visa after being deemed a legitimate refugee

"Fear for your Wife " Australia's new Conservative Abbott Federal Government cuts Labor Green Loon Islamic Colonization of Australia by 70% in five weeks of taking office.

A CONVICTED people smuggler busted three times coming to Australia using fake identities will be considered for a protection visa after being deemed a legitimate refugee.

The 41-year-old - who served two years of a 10-year jail sentence for people smuggling - returned to Australia in 2010 on a boat.

Department of Immigration officials rejected his refugee claim but a merits review found he was owed protection.

The decision has placed the government in a difficult position as it is unlikely the man can be removed.

An ombudsman's report to parliament shows the man first arrived in Australia by air in 1997 carrying a stolen Australian passport. He came using another fake passport in 2001 - and was convicted of people smuggling in 2006.

Former immigration minister Chris Bowen allowed the man to lodge a protection visa application last August.

"He has recently written to the minister 'asking for mercy'. He apologised for his past misdeeds and said he is now of good character," the immigration ombudsman said.

In another case reviewed by the ombudsman, a 31-year-old boat arrival wanted on an Interpol red notice for misappropriation was also found to be a refugee upon review.

Australia has told Interpol it cannot extradite the man to face charges and a three-year jail sentence because there is no extradition treaty with the country where he is wanted.

The man was living in community detention despite failing an offshore character test.

In another case, a paperwork bungle meant a 26-year-old convicted robber who served jail time in the UK was released into community detention. He spent four months in the community last year before the mistake in a submission to Mr Bowen was realised and the then minister revoked the man's placement.

"The Department of Immigration and Citizenship became aware the submission that had been put to the minister did not contain information about Mr X's criminal conviction and imprisonment in the UK," the ombudsman noted.

A 36-year-old man convicted of robbery, assault and visa overstay in another country was also found to be a refugee and is awaiting an offshore character test.

An asylum seeker permitted to leave community detention later became "a person of interest to the police".

Hizb ut-Tahrir Australia conference hears 'this country at war' with radical Islam

A HARDLINE Islamic group has warned Muslims that the government was trying to "brainwash" their children and that they should resist any attempts to water down their strict view of Islam.

Pious Muslim cleric, Uthman Badar Warns Australian's it will be OUR fault if Muslims blow us up.

"The government is playing a dirty, dirty game," Wassim Doureihi told the 600-strong audience at the Hizb ut-Tahrir Australia conference in Lidcombe yesterday.

Hizb ut-Tahrir wants global sharia law. Yesterday in Sydney it launched a 124-page report on what it sees as Australian government attempts to divide the Muslim community into extremists and moderates.

"The fundamental objective of these policies is to change Islam, to secularise Islam, to produce a so-called 'moderate Islam': a state-sanctioned version of Islam that is secular, politically impotent and localised," it said.

Mr Doureihi warned the audience that it was "a war on Islam - a war that is being waged in this country as it is in the rest of the world".

Fellow speaker Soadad Doureihi warned: "This is truly a battle." He said the Australian government had "arrogantly" assumed that because Muslim youth "went to their schools and watch their TV shows" they would adopt "their values".

Because that did not happen, he said, authorities had instead moved to target young Muslims with sponsored leadership programs. "This is not a leadership course, it is a brainwashing course," he said.

Outside, about 20 Australian Defence League members waved banners and chanted: "Australians are welcome, terrorists are not" watched by police .

League president Ralph Cerminara said: "This (Hizb ut-Tahrir) is a terrorist organisation and it needs to be banned from Australia."

Inside people told how they had been approached by representatives of ASIO and the Australian Federal Police to inform on other members of their Muslim community.

"Know your rights," Wassim Doureihi said. "When ASIO calls the simple message is that you open the door and slam it on their face."

The organisers said the government was attempting to manipulate their community by providing funding via counter-terrorism and counter-extremism groups.

"Not only do you reject it, you spit on it because it is money that will be the source of your demise," Mr Doureihi said. "It's not engagement, it's entrapment."

Soadad Doureihi condemned the National Imam's Council and the Lakemba Muslim Association for taking government money that was "absolutely conditional" on producing a more watered down version of Islam.

Sheik Rian Wiramihardja said: "They are rewriting Islam to make it more palatable to Western tastes and we have to be aware of this."

The speakers called on those present to resist any attempts to moderate Islam.
