"The chief weapon in the quiver of all Islamist expansionist movements, is the absolute necessity to keep victims largely unaware of the actual theology plotting their demise. To complete this deception, a large body of ‘moderates’ continue to spew such ridiculous claims as “Islam means Peace” thereby keeping non-Muslims from actually reading the Qur’an, the Sira, the Hadith, or actually looking into the past 1400 years of history. Islamists also deny or dismiss the concept of ‘abrogation’, which is the universal intra-Islamic method of replacing slightly more tolerable aspects of the religion in favor of more violent demands for Muslims to slay and subdue infidels"

James Longworth convicted of "Reckless Assault " of Fady Taiba

Sydney wife questions husband's attacker

After watching her husband lying in a coma for 19 days and then seeing the man who punched him explain his actions in a Sydney

court, Danielle Taiba is still left asking "why?".

Security guard Fadi "Fred" Taiba suffered a traumatic brain injury and had to have part of his skull removed after James Ian

Longworth felled him at Bar 333 on George St in September 2013.

Longworth was on Monday found not guilty of intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm but a jury found him guilty of the lesser

charge of recklessly causing grievous bodily harm.

Speaking after the verdict, Mrs Taiba said she has watched Longworth throughout the trial.

"I have studied you ... your hands, picturing your fists clenched as they were the night you chose to use them as a weapon," she told

reporters.

"I have sat behind you for the last two weeks. You have shown no fear and no remorse.

"Why is it when you felt sad thinking of your deceased father you decided to king hit my husband and run?"

The crown described the blow as a haymaker, with fellow security guard George Linardos recalling how he heard a loud slapping noise

before seeing Mr Taiba fall to the ground.

"I'd never seen anything at all like that before. I was scared," Mr Linardos told the jury.

But Longworth, who admitted throwing the punch, always denied he intended to cause Mr Taiba really serious harm.

The 34-year-old told his trial last week that at the time of the "incident" he had been grappling with his father's death in June that

year.

Longworth explained how he was living in the UK when his father died and never got a chance to say goodbye.

So when on September 5, 2013 he was told a crematorium had lost his father's ashes he was "heartbroken".

This was still playing on his mind when the next night he ran into friends at Concourse Bar near Wynyard and had 10 schooners.

When the group went to the nearby Bar 333, Longworth was denied entry.

"Any other night I would probably have just laughed and walked away," Longworth told the jury.

Instead, he protested, and - "overwhelmed" about his dad and knowing his night was over "lashed out".

Longworth, who later described the punch as a tap to police, because he was in disbelief about the "whole situation" and "couldn't

believe he had hit someone".

Longworth, who remains on bail, is set to return to court on December 11 for sentencing proceedings.

He and his mother had applied for the CCTV footage of the punch not to be published but it was released to the media on Monday.

Geert Wilders: Controversial Dutch politician launches anti-Islam party in Perth

Miles Godfrey
The Daily Telegraph
October 20 1015

DUTCH politician Geert Wilders will launch a new anti-Islamic political party in Perth, just months after being targeted by terrorists during a Mohammed cartoon drawing contest in the US.

Police and security forces will be on high alert as Mr Wilders, who is reportedly on an Al-Qaeda hit list, attends the official launch of the Australian Liberty Alliance (ALA) in Perth CBD tonight.

The new anti-Islamic party, which says it stands for “Judaeo-Christian values” has been forced to keep the location of the event secret, fearing violent protests.

Wilders is due to attend an ALA press conference in Perth tomorrow and is expected to leave Australia shortly afterwards.

The visit of the 52-year-old, whose anti-Islamic Party for Freedom is backed by 30 per cent of voters in The Netherlands, comes just five months after police shot dead two ISIS-linked jihadists who attacked a Mohammed cartoon drawing contest in Garland, Texas where Mr Wilders was giving a keynote speech.

The Dutchman did not respond to a request for comment but during the day he tweeted a picture of himself holding a koala, with the hashtag #IloveAustralia.

A Christian genocide is under way in the Middle East, with fears that Christianity will be extinguished in its birthplace................

Christians the Most at Risk

Miranda Devine
The Sunday Telegraph
Pg 19.
18 Oct 2015

WHEN Tony Abbott committed Australia to taking an extra 12,000 refugees from Syria last month, he said Christians would be the priority. Malcolm Turnbull, then Communications Minister, agreed.

After all, Christians are the most persecuted people on Earth, as the latest report by Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need shows.
A Christian genocide is under way in the Middle East, with fears that Christianity will be extinguished in its birthplace.

And yet, now we hear that there will be no special treatment for Christians.
We will choose “the most vulnerable groups in those (refugee) camps”, Peter Shergold, the new co-ordinator-general for Refugee Resettlement in NSW, told the ABC. “I would expect a significant diversity.” That “diversity” reportedly is 50 per cent each of Christians and Muslims, half of whom are expected to be settled in NSW.

Have we bowed to United Nations’ criticism of our desire to favour Christian refugees?
The problem with choosing refugees from the camps is that Christians and other persecuted minorities — such as the Yazidis — are also being persecuted inside the camps, and so have been forced to seek refuge elsewhere.
If we choose only from the camps, not only are we not taking the most needy refugees but we are potentially welcoming their persecutors.

Teen terrorist Farhad Jabar’s body buried in Rookwood Cemetery

EXCLUSIVE Laura Banks
The Daily Telegraph
October 19 2015.

TEEN terrorist Farhad Jabar’s body has been quietly buried in Rookwood Cemetery, near the grave of a shot gang associate and the beloved wife of a famous Sydney boxer.

A galvanised steel marker bears a white sticker with bold black writing; “Mr Farhad Jabar Khalil Mohammad”. It states the date of his death and his age.

Jabar was killed on October 2 by a special constable who bravely stepped into the line of fire as the teenager yelled “Allahu Akbar” after he had shot dead police accountant Curtis Cheng in Parramatta.

The 15-year-old’s grave lies just metres from notorious Brothers 4 Life associate Mahmoud Hamzy, 25, and the wife of champion Australian boxer Billy Dib, Sara Selim Dib, 21, who died tragically from complications of chemotherapy last month.

The Daily Telegraph understands that Jabar was buried last Saturday.

A palm frond sits atop the freshly disturbed clay in an Islamic tradition.

The teenager’s body was held for six days and buried as soon as possible in line with Islamic tradition.

It is believed Jabar’s parents wanted the teen’s body buried in their Kurdish homeland but brother Farshard wanted the boy’s remains buried in Australia.

GUARD OF HONOUR FOR CURTIS CHENG FUNERAL

A mourner — whose father is buried just metres from Jabar at Rookwood — told The Daily Telegraph he “had some concerns about him (Jabar) being buried there”.

“I don’t know who is going to come here now and I have my son come here with me,” he said.

“I am Muslim but what he (Jabar) did was not right and I want our government to do more to stop this from happening again.

“Surely they can bug the mosques and have better intelligence.”

Jabar was farewelled and interred among devout followers of the Muslim faith, in stark contrast to the treatment of Lindt siege gunman Man Haron Monis.

The Muslim community washed their hands of Monis and he was buried in an undisclosed location.

Monis — who died along with two of his hostages in a shootout with police at the Lindt cafe in Sydney’s Martin Place in December — was buried by gravediggers in an undisclosed NSW location in January.

Those involved in the state burial were required to sign a confidentiality agreement.

Islamic leaders publicly denounced Monis’s actions and said he was so despised in the community that funeral directors refused to handle his body.

The location of his grave remains a mystery.

Pious Muslim Neil Prakash goes back down the sewer

Australian Islamic State recruiter Neil Prakash goes offline to avoid being tracked on social media

Armando Cordoba, James Dowling
Herald Sun
October 19 2015.

AUSTRALIA’S most senior terrorist has gone into hiding for fear coalition bombers will be able to track him down using his Twitter feed.

Noted Islamic State propagandist Neil Prakash has shut down his social media sites and stopped replying to online messages from supporters.

For months, the former Melbourne jihadi had urged others to carry out attacks in Western countries and boasted he could help Westerners wanting to join him in Syria.

It is believed he has gone into cyber silence for fear authorities may be able to track his location through his internet use. Prakash is reportedly on a US kill list.

He was involved in an alleged plot to behead police officers on Anzac Day in Melbourne.

But in a text conversation obtained by the Herald Sun, a fellow jihadi said senior IS figures had urged him to drop his online profile.

Abu Khalid al-Amriki, a jihadi from the US, said Prakash had been banned from using the internet.

Last month, Al-Amriki, who is believed to have since been killed in combat, said Prakash was ordered offline after three of the Melbourne man’s closest friends were killed by coalition bombs.
Deadly UK strikes took out Reyaad Khan and fellow jihadi Ruhul Amin in September.

And British hacker Junaid Hussain was killed by a US bomb last month.

One of Prakash’s last tweets claimed he did not fear death and goaded the US to send him a “paradise missile”.

Prakash and other Western fighters were once the main source of propaganda.

They had been vocal in urging others to join IS or carry out attacks in Western countries.

While Prakash has fallen silent, the wife of slain Melbourne jihadist Suhan Rahman is trying to recruit Australian women to join the IS terror group.

Umm Jihad, who is an American named Hoda, revealed she had been actively trying to groom young women to travel to Syria to become jihadi brides.

In an encrypted text conversation — seen by the Herald Sun — the jihadi recruiter trained a potential recruit on how to get to Syria.

“Are you prepared with everything? Passport, Luggage and Money?,” the American recruiter asked the girl.

Umm Jihad told the wannabe jihadi to take measures to protect herself as the American’s phone was “prob tapped”.

“It’s best not to text me until u r legit preparing encase u need help.”

In March, a woman claiming to be Suhan Rahman’s wife said that Abu Jihadi al Australi, Rahman’s combat name, was killed in a clash in Syria.

How NRL player Matthew Lodge was allegedly found in closet in New York after stalking two women

How NRL player Matthew Lodge was allegedly found in closet in New York after stalking two women

Anna Caldwell IN NEW YORK
The Daily Telegraph

October 19 2015

DISGRACED NRL player Matthew Lodge was found cowering in the bedroom closet of the New York apartment he allegedly barged into after stalking frightened women into the home, punching the man who lived there and then pegging a bottle of wine at police.

It is now known that the women Lodge allegedly stalked were buzzing apartment buildings along the Upper West Side’s upmarket West End Avenue in a bid to find someone who would let them inside to escape the NRL player, who told them “this is the night that you die”.

Fresh detail has emerged of the night including how Lodge allegedly punched the male resident who responded to the women’s request for help by letting them inside.

Police allege Lodge then locked the man in the corridor while proceeding to trash the apartment with the man’s wife and son trapped inside.

Lodge — who has been sacked by the West Tigers — was last night locked up in New York’s Robert N Davoren prison, near the infamous Rikers Island complex awaiting a court date on Thursday Australian time.
Authorities require a $US20,000 cash bail or a $US30,000 bond for his release, with Lodge’s father last night en route to the US.

Lodge was staying with friends at a swanky Upper West Side hotel, situated in a family-friendly area of Manhattan not known for its party scene.

However it is understood the group pestered anyone they came into contact with on arrival as to where they could go to party that night.
“All they wanted to know from the moment they got here was where are the parties where are the parties,” one local said.

It was about 10pm that the women were frantically buzzing apartments on West End Avenue to be let in so they could escape Lodge.

After one man came to their assistance, Lodge followed the women inside.

NYPD Sergent Brendan Ryan said when Lodge was asked to leave the apartment he punched the complainant.

“The complainant tried to remove him from his apartment and he was punched with a closed fist,” Sgt Ryan said.

He said the altercation spilled out to the hallway.

“The suspect re-entered the apartment, closed and locked the door with the complainant and victim locked outside … His wife and son were locked inside,” Sgt Ryan said.

While inside, Lodge allegedly broke items in the apartment.

Sgt Ryan said police then arrived, with Lodge allegedly throwing a bottle of wine at them but missing.

“(He then) retreated into the apartment where he was found hiding inside one of the bedroom closets,” Sgt Ryan said.

Lodge was then taken into custody and charged with criminal mischief, reckless endangerment, criminal trespass, assault and menacing.

He was then given arraignment charges of burglary.

As of last night, the bond had not been paid and Lodge was being represented by Legal Aid.

The most serious of the offences Lodge has been charged with are classified as level B felonies — the second most serious class of offence in a scale that ranges down to level E, and punishable by jail time.

GoPro gang rape Alleged rapist was already on bail for child rape charges

Brenden Hills, Linda Simalis, Mark Morri

A MAN arrested for allegedly gang raping a 16-year-old girl had already been freed on just $200 bail over the rape of a 15-year-old.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was granted bail in Parramatta Local Court for the alleged indecent assault and rape of his girlfriend’s younger sister in western Sydney in 2013.

He was released despite opposition by prosecutors.

Months later he was charged over the gang rape of a 16-year-old girl.

The case, details of which cannot be revealed because of the man’s looming trials on both charges, is set to trigger yet another political brawl over NSW bail laws.

With the community already outraged over this week’s GoPro rape case arrests, Shadow Attorney General Paul Lynch called on the NSW government to ask for the Director of Public Prosecutions to review the decision to grant bail.

“This government’s approach to bail laws is at best confused and haphazard,” he said.

“The attorney general must demand the DPP urgently review the facts and circumstances around this case.”

Attorney General Gabrielle Upton said she could not comment on the decision to grant bail nor the case in general because it was currently before the court.

However, she said the granting of bail had been strengthened by “tough new bail laws which came into effect in January 2015”.

“In particular, we introduced a ‘show cause’ test for serious offences, including aggravated sexual assault against a person under 16, which requires the accused to justify why they should be given bail,” Ms Upton said.

Earlier this week a teenage boy and four men were charged with the alleged gang rape of a teenage girl at a house party at St Clair in May while being filmed with a GoPro camera.

Police believe the girl was raped by up to four males and that eight people may have been in the room at the time.

Police Transport Command officers found the camera while searching a car near Campbelltown train station during an investigation into graffiti.

It was handed to the Child Abuse Squad and police spent the next four months investigating.

The incident had not been reported to police but officers were able to track down the girl and later identify her alleged attackers via tattoos seen on the video.

Last Wednesday, police arrested four men and a teenage boy. Tristan Carlyle-Watson, 25, was charged with concealing an indictable offence.

Ayden Devereux and Kurt Stevenson, both 24, Andrew Waters, 23, and the 17-year-old were charged aggravated sexual assault in company.

Deveraux was also charged with filming the alleged rape. All are due to face court next month.

Dancing with wolves and singing kumbaya

THE words Islam or Islamic were uttered six times in Federal Parliament before it rose for the week on Thursday — but not once in reference to terrorism.
The only “I” word being embraced by the Turnbull government is “inclusive”, which makes one wonder — just which planet are our parliamentarians living on?
It’s more than a year since the Government raised the national terrorism alert level to high, last September 12, and it has not been shifted since.

The system rates four levels of risk. They are: low — terrorist attack is not expected; medium — terrorist attack could occur; high — terrorist attack is likely; extreme — attack is imminent or has occurred.
Yet two innocent people were killed in an Islamist terrorist attack in the heart of Sydney last December when shotgun-wielding Man Haron Monis made hostages of patrons of the Lindt Cafe, and Curtis Cheng was ruthlessly murdered by a 15-year-old boy in front of the Parramatta police station as he was leaving work on October 2.

As it happens, that same morning Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull publicly signalled his much-heralded break with his predecessor Tony Abbott’s hard-line approach to Islamism.

After discussions with Foreign Minister Julie Bishop and Justice Minister Michael Keenan, who both urged him to take the fresh approach, he wheeled out his new, more inclusive tone for future dealings with the Islamic community.
Needless to say, it was warmly embraced by the country’s Muslim spokesmen, and according to GP Jamal Rifi, the “larger Muslim community” would “respond with open arms”.

Dr Rifi told The Australian newspaper that the Muslim community was “elated” at Mr Turnbull becoming prime minister, as the relationship with the government under Mr Abbott had become “extremely tense and hurtful”.
Though clearly not as hurtful as the lethal relationship between Mr Cheng and his teenage murderer was to be just hours later.
Since then police officers have been told not to wear their uniforms to and from work, just like servicemen and women, out of fear they may be targeted when they are not carrying their service-issue weapons.

But not a flicker of the terrorist threat meter, just more baloney about Islam as a religion of peace from a gaggle of self-important so-called Muslim community leaders and clerics and apologists who want to blame anything but absolutely barbaric Koranic verses as reasons for the constant global incitement of Muslims to murder the nonbelievers.

The Federal Government had been moving for months to introduce laws that will lower the age at which control orders can be applied from 16 to 14 years of age — even as we learn that a 12-year-old was among the 17 extremists named in court papers as a close-knit

Western Sydney group, lured into the Islamist death cult and willing to commit murder or die for the Islamic State.
Extremist hate preachers and fake sheiks speak at mosques and Islamic schools, and Canberra assembles a congregation of multi-faith ministers to sing kumbaya and have a group hug.

Mr Turnbull has confirmed that over the past five months the Federal Government has trained more than 300 “specialists” who will be embedded within the nation’s frontline departments and agencies to intervene and divert individuals from radicalisation.
He didn’t mention the particular group which the agencies were concerned about but you can be fairly certain it is not the Amish.

He said that individuals and extremists “seek to denigrate other groups in the community, often within their own religion, other religions and other ethnic groups, and they seek to turn us against each other”.

Which religion, Mr Turnbull — Buddhism, Christianity or Judaism?
Guess again, because he didn’t say.

There were plenty of omissions from Thursday’s debate in Canberra, not least being Labor MPs Maria Vamvakinou and Melissa Parke, who managed to totally ignore the current wave of terrorist stabbings and shootings targeting innocent Israelis and the torrent of hate

speech pouring out of the West Bank as they talked up the cause of Palestinian statehood.
But the extraordinarily high number, per capita, of young Australians who have chosen to join fellow jihadists in Syria and Iraq would indicate that relying on local Muslim leaders to co-operate with the security agencies has not been entirely successful.
The motherhood view was outlined by Muslim MP Ed Husic on Friday, when he said the aim of terrorists was to divide communities with fear.

“We need the broader community to feel secure,” he said. Just imagine. The broader community won’t feel secure until those who follow Islam show they wish to assimilate and adopt Australia’s liberal democratic values just like earlier new Australians from northern European, southern Europe and south-east Asia.

Having embraced the nonsensical policy of multiculturalism, the Federal Government is stuck with the problem of dealing with a growing group of individuals who show little sign of observing their oath of loyalty to Australia.

Congregating in essentially non-English-speaking ghettos clustered around a profusion of mosques in which English is not heard, taking satellite news from Arabic-language broadcasts, will not help this migrant group become part of the broader community and it will not make Australians feel more secure.

Millions have now been spent, and tens of millions more are earmarked to go to Islamic projects, but it is difficult to see how a single cent of the money will help remove the cultural barriers that are core to Koranic teaching.

More than 1500 people have farewelled a gentle man whose death at the hands of a 15-year-old terrorist outside Parramatta police headquarters has shaken the NSW Police Force.

Sombre officers stood guard as their colleague Curtis Cheng's coffin left St Mary's Cathedral in Sydney following his funeral on Saturday morning, more than two weeks after the shooting.

Curtis Cheng, an accountant for the force for 17 years, was remembered as a gentle man, who was devoted to his family, friends and his police colleagues.

His death had rocked his colleagues across the state, with NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione telling mourners he couldn't describe the devastation across the force.

'The gentlest of friends lost to an act of terror; a man, the manner of whose death stands in stark contrast to the gentle, honourable way he lived his life,' Mr Scipione said.

Mr Scipione told Mr Cheng's wife Selina, son Alpha, and daughter Zilvia Mr Cheng was 'so proud to be part of the force', and was cherished by his colleagues who said he was 'nothing but positive'.

'Curtis was one of our own, one of our friends. His circumstances are our circumstances.

'The pain and disorientation we feel at Curtis' death is all the more acute as a result.

Alpha Cheng in his eulogy called on mourners to honour his father by following his example.

'Dad did everything in his own, quiet, little way,' Alpha said.

'We need to do the little things for the people around us ... if we all do that little bit more as dad did in his life, I believe we can live in a more gentle and harmonious world.

'May he rest in peace.'

Also among the mourners were NSW Premier Mike Barid, Police Minister Troy Grant, NSW Governor David Hurley, Opposition Leader Luke Foley and police representatives from Australia and New Zealand.

Mr Cheng, 58, died after 15-year-old Farhad Jabar shot him as he was leaving work on Friday October 2.

Jabar died after he was shot by police at the scene.

Two men who allegedly helped the 15-year-old Jabar carry out the attack were refused bail in court on Friday.

NSW Police Middle Eastern Crime Squad, seize vehicle and make arrests

A man has been arrested and his vehicle seized by Middle Eastern Crime Squad at King St Newtown

October 16, 2015

A MAN has been arrested and his vehicle seized on busy King St in Newtown this afternoon in a tactical operation by the Middle Eastern Crime Squad, which also sparked raids across south-west Sydney.

Just after 3pm two unmarked police vehicles swerved in front of a silver hatchback and at least six officers in tactical operations gear swarmed on the car.

The P-plate driver and his girlfriend were removed from the vehicle and searched by the heavily armed officers.

Newtown local Craig Warren witnessed the raid as it unfolded.

“The police came out of nowhere,” he said.

“They surrounded a car and dragged the driver out of the car and held a rifle to him.

“Two more men were also removed from the car and a woman wearing a burka. They put them on the ground and cuffed them.”

He said the three occupants were taken away for questioning. Their car was towed minutes later.

According to eyewitnesses the operation was swift and the driver was arrested.

“It literally looked out of a movie,” local shop assistant Kate O’Rourke said.

Her colleague said the man complained of heart problems and as a result the paramedics were called.

“They pinned him to the ground and then against the wall outside. He didn’t put up a fight,” Alicia Rose said.

Ms O’Rourke said the man shouted “Don’t touch my girlfriend! Leave her out of this!” as he was pinned to the ground.

NSW Police confirmed the Middle Eastern Crime Squad conducted the raid as part of an ongoing police investigation into extortion.

According to a police spokesman the investigation has also triggered raids across south-west Sydney, with more underway in Bankstown, Greenacre, Punchbowl and Condell Park.

Officers made inquiries on Tennyson Rd, Greenacre, and a raid occurred on Rosemont St, Punchbowl.

It is understood the second arrest happened at Hume Highway, Yagoona.

The operation was not related to counter terrorism or the Parramatta shooting incident two weeks ago.

THE state’s police force has assembled a plain-clothed terror squad that is taking to the streets and asking youths if they have been “approached” about Islam in an attempt to cut off recruitment.

The move, while praised by many, has prompted some to compare the tactics to those of the Gestapo – the secret police force of Hitler’s Nazi regime.

The Daily Telegraph can confirm the plain-clothed NSW Police officers are targeting areas in western Sydney where they believe terrorist recruiters are preying on vulnerable young Australians.

The unprecedented attempts to cut off radicalisation at its source have outraged some members of the Muslim community.

A video captured by a young Muslim man as he was approached by police has surfaced online and is being distributed by radical Islamic political party Hizb ut-Tahrir, a group which believes in sharia law and wants a global caliphate.

It shows two plain clothed officers – one male, one female – talking to a group of youths in Bankstown.

After asking the group to stop recording them, the male police officer asks if they have been “approached” about Islam recently.

“The reason why we’re walking around Bankstown today is to speak to the young blokes in Bankstown and see if they’re being approached by anyone in relation to Islam and stuff like that,” the officer can be heard saying.

In a statement, NSW Police said: “Community engagement is one tool we are using in the fight against radicalisation. It is crucial we identify and speak to those people at greatest risk of being targeted by those with extremist views.”

“Rather than just approaching people and expecting co-operation, the police need to work a lot harder at getting people on side.”

Muslim community leader and anti-radicalisation campaigner Jamal Daoud said he was pleased to see police making themselves visible but criticised the style of questioning in the video.

“Any activity from the police is OK but this is some kind of joke,” Mr Daoud said.

“Why are you asking about Islam? You need to ask about radical Islam or extremism or ISIS…to ask someone about Islam is stupid.”

Mr Daoud said brainwashing and terrorism recruitment was happening behind the closed doors of mosques, religious centres and book stores but added there was also a problem in public with groups like the street Dawah movement.

The NSW Police strategy has led to fervent debate on social media.

Parramatta man Michael Robert drew parallels between the religious questioning and the methods of the Hitler’s notorious secret police.

“Sorry, I don’t talk to the Gestapo,” he wrote.

Arsalaan Khan said: “I think what the police is doing is to safeguard the residents of Sydney and we should all co-operate with them.”

The video also drew harsh criticism from NSW Senator David Leyonhjelm, who was sent the footage by The Daily Telegraph.

“I don’t blame the young people for not co-operating with police. If I were in their place, I would probably have given them some lip,” he said.

“Rather than just approaching people and expecting co-operation, the police need to work a lot harder at getting people on side.

“Our police need to study up on Peel’s Principles, which state that the ability of the police to perform their duties is dependent on public approval of police actions. Unfortunately, many young people feel they have been harassed in some way by police.

“A lot more work needs to be done by the police to create a culture of respect.

“My concern is that every second week the police seem to be convincing politicians to come up with bad laws to cover up for these kinds of failures.”
