THREE people have escaped injury after shots were fired into their home in Sydney's south-west, in what police believe was a targeted attack.
Two men and a woman were inside when several shots were fired into the home in Sherack Place at Minto, near Campbelltown, shortly after 11pm (AEDT) on Monday, police said.
Several bullets penetrated the front of the home, but no-one was injured.
It is the latest of several shootings in Sydney in recent months.
Police are urging anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

TONY Abbott has warned Indonesia that his pledge to turn back the boats is a matter of "sovereignty'' after Australia agreed to back down and accept a boatload of 63 asylum seekers.
Sky News Australia, along with "Their SBS " and "Their ABC" is a Loyal and valued propaganda / publicity arm of the Progressive Left and Islamic Sociopath's Inc. Taquiyha network of enlightened and progressive Journalists.
After a three-day ocean stand off, Australia agreed to accept the asylum seekers today despite the fact they were rescued just 43 nautical miles off Java.
Labor has compared the capitulation with Kevin Rudd's disastrous Oceanic Viking saga but the Coalition said Indonesia had agreed to accept a number of asylum-seeker boats back since the Coalition was elected.
Senior Liberal sources have confirmed that the Prime Minister believed it was still possible Indonesia would have eventually accepted the asylum-seekers but did not want the stand-off to drag on into the opening of Parliament and overshadow the carbon tax debate.
While Australia had requested that the boatload of 63 suspected asylum-seekers picked up close to Java be returned,
Indonesian officials were still considering the request.
"We will have disappointments. But we will succeed,'' Mr Abbott told a Liberal Party Conference in Perth today.
"We will never again tolerate a situation where an important part of our immigration program has been subcontracted out to people smugglers.
"This is an issue of sovereignty for us. We have good relations with Indonesia. But we will stop these boats."
On Friday, an Indonesian official Djoko Suyanto warned Indonesia would not accept the asylum-seekers.
"The Indonesian government NEVER AGREED to such wishes or policies of Australia,'' he said.
"There is NO CHANGE of policy."
After warning on Friday he would not be providing "shipping news'' on the boat stand off, the Abbott Government broke with recent protocol and issued a statement on the resolution of the stand-off.
Immigration Minister Scott Morrison confirmed that Border Protection had first responded to a request for assistance on Thursday.
Because the incident took place within close proximity to the Indonesian coast, "a request was made, consistent with our standing practice under Operation Sovereign Borders, to transfer the passengers rescued to Indonesia, in accordance with international search and rescue protocols."
"On two recent occasions, Indonesia has agreed to these requests and facilitated an on water transfer,'' Mr Morrison said.
"The Indonesian Government has advised Australian officials overnight that they are reviewing the request put forward by Australia.
"While we welcome Indonesia's review of our request, in the best interests of the safety of the passengers and crew of the rescued vessel and the Australian vessel that has been rendering assistance, earlier this morning I requested
Lieutenant General Campbell to transfer the persons rescued from the SAR incident to Christmas Island for rapid onward transfer to Manus Island or Nauru. They will not be resettled in Australia."
But Labor's immigration spokesman Richard Marles said the back down was embarrassing.
"The diplomacy of the Abbott Government with Indonesia around asylum seekers has been absolutely inept.
"What we have seen is the embarrassing spectacle of the Abbott Government seeking to dictate terms to the
Indonesia Government. This is school year diplomacy backed up by half-hearted resolve and it is a sad embarrassment."
"So today, I call upon the Prime Minister and Minster Morrison to end this farce, to end this culture of secrecy."
The Greens said Mr Abbott's border protection policy was "in tatters."

Muslim Inbreeding in Australia and it's consequences
Consanguineous Marriage amongst Muslims

The issue of consanguineous marriage(marriage between relatives) in the Muslim community is, for obvious reasons, a rather sensitive one. There are many people in the community who are in such relationships and even more who are the product of these relationships. Indeed, we know that such marriages are permissable under the shariah because the Prophet (saw) himself married his cousin, Zainab bint Jahsh. We also know that first cousins are allowed to marry under Australian law. There is absolutely no argument about the the legitimacy or legality of such marriages.
Whilst Western culture might view consanguineous marriage as somewhat distasteful, these marriages have been a common feature of Arab and some Muslim societies for thousands of years. The marrying of one’s child to a family member was seen as a means of maintaining the wealth of the family within the family, and mitigating against the risk of marrying one’s daughter or son into a family with which one might not be fully familiar.
However, there is now some evidence that the children of consanguineous marriage face a hightened risk of developing a range of genetic disorders. Whilst the risk may be marginally increased with the first generation to be born from such a relationship, the risk increases down the bloodline with each successive consanguineous marriage. Physical deformities, heart disease, mental retardation,deafness, perinatal mortality, and blindness are reported as amongst the more common genetic fallout from these sorts of relationships. The results can be seen clearly in a country such as Saudi Arabiawhere, as one Saudi doctor put it, genetic mutations that occured 10,000 or 20,000 years ago have become genetic markers for specific tribes because of the inbreeding that has taken place over this period.

Unfortunately, some of these problems are now being seen amongst Australia’s Muslim community. The Sydney Morning Herald reportedlast week:
A study at Auburn Hospital found almost 20 per cent of pregnant women admitted to the maternity ward in one year were married to their first or second cousins.The research found babies were three times more likely to be born with birth defects and six times more likely to die in the womb or in infancy than babies in the general population.
The Sun Herald went into more detail on the 28th May, 2006 with a piece entitled, “The Family Ties that Bind”.
It is almost two decades since doctors at Sydney’s Auburn Hospital began to research a devastating pattern of birth defects among babies bom to Lebanese families. Led by pioneering obstetrician Dr Caroline de Costa, the study showed significant increases in birth defects, stillbirths and miscarriages among women who were married to blood relatives, particulariy first and second cousins from families who came largely but not exclusively, from the Middle East. The study found that one in three Lebanese women were married to a cousin and, across the hospital’s maternity ward, one in 10 women had married a cousin. Even more alarming was the finding that babies bom to these women were four times more likely to be stillborn and eight times more likely to suffer serious birth defects.
Given the typical Western view of such marriages, one might expect that most of these people were first generation immigrants. However, it appears that this form of marriage is even more popular amongst the second generation.
Ten years later, maternity ward staff reported these marriages were on the rise. De Costa followed up her landmark study, interviewing every pregnant women who booked into the hospital’s maternity ward in one year. In 2001 she published her results,revealing that almost 20 per cent of women were consanguineously married. Of those, more than half were married to first cousins and almost 60 per cent were bom in Australia.Fifteen babies born to consanguineous couples – related by birth – at Auburn Hospital had severe defects, including heart, kidney and liver function problems. Among non-cousin couples there were five disabled babies – one with a cleft lip and two with club feet. Of those babies that died – six in total – all were bom to consanguineous couples. “What was interesting,” de Costa wrote at the time, “was that the proportion of pregnant women who were consanguineously married had risen from 11 per cent in the 1980s to 19.6 per cent in 1999. “In other words.. .consanguineous marriage is continuing to be commonly practised by the next generation. Accurate information about risks and non-judgemental genetic counselling need to be available.”
Australia is by no means unique in this regard. Around 55% of Pakistanis in the United Kingdom are reported to be married to their first cousins. The results are also largely the same:
British Pakistanis are 13 times more likely to have children with genetic disorders than the general population – they account for just over 3% of all births but have just under a third of all British children with such illnesses.
The increasing prevelance of consanguineous marriage amongst second generation Australian Muslims raises a number of very important and interesting questions.
Firstly, why are second generation Muslims marrying their first cousins in such numbers? Some have argued that this is due to the local Muslim community being relatively small, but it may also be a result of the immigration policies in countries such as Australia and the United Kingdom. Many of us will have heard stories, for example, of young Western Muslims marrying their cousins from abroad in order to bring the extended family into the country. Once the bride or husband receives Australian citizenship, then it opens up further opportunities for family reunion visas to branches of the family that would otherwise have been excluded. A cursory review of some recent cases heard by the Immigration Review Tribunal would suggest that this may be a possible reason.
Secondly, if the issue is as serious and as prolific as the report by Auburn Hospital would suggest, then surely this is an important issue for Muslim leaders to address. Assuming that people will continue to marry their cousins, then they should be encouraged to undertake genetic counselling before the marriage is contracted or, at least, consumated.

THE rioter who smashed the windscreen of a police car with a milk crate has been arrested for using offensive language to police.
Omar Halaby, 19, also allegedly refused to allow a female police officer to take his fingerprints, telling her: "You can't make me do anything. It's against my religion to allow females to touch me."
Halaby earlier this year escaped with a 12-month good behaviour bond for his role in last September's Muslim riot in the Sydney CBD after his lawyer told magistrate Pat O'Shane that he suffered from learning and physical disabilities.
Police allege that at 4.40pm on Saturday, Halaby was the passenger in a white BMW which drove past a police operation as officers stopped vehicles in Bryant Street, Padstow.
It is alleged that he yelled out of the car window: "F … off dog c … s."
He was arrested and refused to provide his name or details and was taken to Bankstown police station where he allegedly "resisted violently" and refused to provide his fingerprints to a female officer.
Police called an Arabic-speaking male officer who took Halaby's fingerprints.
It is believed that Halaby was being investigated for collecting a $200-a-week pension while bragging on Facebook that he worked as a subcontractor on a construction site.
In January Halaby pleaded guilty to smashing the windscreen of a marked police car with a milk crate and assaulting a TV cameraman during last year's riot.
The court heard Halaby yelled Islamic slogans at the camera crew and pushed a cameraman during the protest. He paid $500 for the damage to the police car.
Just before his court appearance in January, he posted on Facebook: ``Having the time of my life at Downing Centre Local Court.'
"He has literacy issues, a short attention span, things to that effect,'' Legal Aid lawyer Sophie Edin told the court at the time. That's what happens when your Mother and Father are your older brother and sister.
Halaby was given police bail to appear before Bankstown Local Court on October 9 charged with using offensive language and resisting arrest.

A SKAF gang rapist's fourth bid for freedom has stalled after a hearing before the NSW State Parole Authority was told he had possibly been associating with members of a criminal gang.
Mohammed Sanoussi has already served 13 years of a 16-year sentence for his role in the August 2000 gang rapes of young girls.
The attacks, involving 14 men, happened at various locations in Sydney.
Sanoussi, who became eligible for parole in 2010, made his fourth application today, but it was adjourned after information was presented to the board that he had been seen meeting with members of the Brothers 4 Life gang.

A police report delivered to Corrective Services late on Tuesday alleges that members of the notorious Brothers 4 Life street gang have been meeting at the Sanoussi family home.
It was at this southwest Sydney property that Sanoussi had been staying while on weekend leave from jail in recent months, and where he was expected to reside if released on parole.
Counsel for the corrective services commissioner Geoff Denman told the parole hearing at Parramatta Justice Precinct on Thursday that releasing Sanoussi into the family home posed an "unacceptable danger".
"Mr Sanoussi has a background of being prone to the pressure of his peers, including his brothers," he said.
"If the information in the police report is correct, then that raises great concerns about whether he might be falling into that company again."
The hearing was adjourned until September 5.

A LAWYER involved in an alleged female genital mutilation case will face court today charged with two counts of perverting the course of justice.
Detectives from the Sex Crimes Squad and attached to Strike Force Longfield arrested the solicitor at his office in Sydney's inner west.
The strike force was set up to investigation claims two young girls had the procedure, also known as female circumcision, performed on them when they were aged six and seven.
Eight people remain before the court after being arrested by detectives last year. Findings are yet to be handed down in those cases
The lawyer has been charged with two counts of do act with intent to pervert the course of justice. He was granted conditional bail and will appear at Parramatta Local Court next week.

A SYDNEY sheik accused of involvement in the barbaric "genital circumcision" of sisters aged 6 and 7 is alleged to have told his Muslim community to lie about its widespread practice.
Police claim Sheik Shabbir Mohammedbhai Vaziri told members of the Dawoodi Bohra community at Auburn to lie to police when they questioned them over the mutilations.
Vaziri, 56, of Auburn, Helen Magennis, 68, a retired nurse of Campbelltown, and the children's parents have all been charged in relation to the alleged acts on the girls.
Police allege the procedures were carried out by Magennis.
A strike force of seven detectives from the NSW sex crimes unit was set up after an anonymous tip to the Department of Community Services several months ago.
It is the first time anyone has been charged with the offence in relation to children after legislation was passed in 1994.

The two children are still in the care of their parents.

Magistrate Chris Longley said despite what many people would see as very serious charges, he was granting bail under strict conditions.
He said police opposed bail saying Vaziri was a flight risk.
Mr Longley ordered Vaziri surrender his passport and report to Auburn police daily and appear in Parramatta Local Court on September 26.

THE managers of a mosque where a muslim prayer leader was charged with allegedly touching the breasts of two teenagers and a grandmother say they are "shocked" by the allegations.
The 59-year-old Egyptian national, Ahmed Alkahly, who is visiting a Northern Beaches mosque for the period of Ramadan, was charged last night after he allegedly indecently assaulted three separate women.
We just can't believe it," a spokesman for the Islamic Society of Manly-Warringah, which runs the Dee Why Masjid Mosque where Alkahly was working as a guest prayer leader said.
"We're shocked, absolutely shocked."
The spokesman said Alkahly had been sent as part of a larger delegation from Egypt.
"The Egyptian government sent him," he said. "He was part of a large group."
"The Australian Federation of Islamic Council received them and decide who went where.
"Some mosques got two or three, some one or two, Dee Why got one."
He said Alkahly was in Australia on a tourist visa and was making guest appearances as a prayer leader for the special night meetings around Ramadan and had denied the allegations against him.
"I don't know how much to say because he denies the allegation," he said.
The events have distressed members of the Northern Beaches mosque with a statement on the group's official website claiming the imam had received abusive emails.
"We would like to inform the public that he is NOT the imam of Dee Why Mosque nor he is directly employed by us," the statement reads.
"Please refrain from sending abusive emails to Dee Why Mosque's imam as he has nothing to do with this."
Police said a 16-year-old girl was approached by a man and allegedly indecently assaulted as she walked through a reserve in Dee Why on Monday.
Then yesterday, a 57-year-old woman and another 16-year-old girl were both allegedly indecently assaulted by a man on Dee Why Beach.
Detectives from Northern Beaches Local Area Command were alerted and commenced an investigation into the incidents.
Following inquiries, detectives arrested the 59-year-old Egyptian National in Dee Why late yesterday.
He was taken to Dee Why Police Station where he was charged with three counts of indecent assault and was given bail to appear at North Sydney Local Court on 5 August 2013.
Dee Why locals said the man had been seen on the beach approaching people and shaking their hands.

Merrylands man, 25, charged over groping blind woman on Sydney train

A MAN has been charged with indecently assaulting a young blind woman while she was travelling on a Sydney train.
Police yesterday released CCTV footage of a man they believe can help with their inquiries.
As a result of the public appeal, a 25-year-old Merrylands man was arrested at home last night.
He's been charged with indecent assault and refused bail and is expected to appear in Parramatta Local Court today.
The 23-year-old woman had told police she had been touched on her breast in an elevator at Ashfield, in Sydney's inner-west, on July 17.
She later felt a hand on her breast while she was on a train in the city's south, between Jannali and Sutherland railway stations, when she also heard a man talking to her.
Prime Minister John Key says he has signed surveillance warrants on New Zealanders who are now in Yemen at al-Qaeda terrorist training camps.

He says the number is small, but he's warning there are "radicalised New Zealanders" who have either left the country or returned.
"I don't think that's terribly new, I suspect (former prime minister) Helen Clark would have signed warrants as well," he told reporters.
"There are warrants on people that I have signed who are currently in Yemen."
Mr Key earlier on Thursday disclosed there were al-Qaeda operatives in New Zealand during an interview on MoreFM.
He was explaining why the Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) needs to have the authority to spy on New Zealanders on behalf of the police and the Security Intelligence Service (SIS).
"In the real world, in New Zealand, there are people who have been trained in al-Qaeda camps, who operate out of New Zealand, who are in contact with people overseas," he said.
"I accept there's a balance between national security and privacy but people need to put a bit of perspective around it."
He was speaking just hours before a bill that gives the GCSB legal authority to spy on New Zealanders came up for its second reading in parliament.
Opposition party leaders accused him of cynically using privileged security information to boost public support for the contentious legislation.
"If he was genuine about protecting the security of New Zealand he would do it in the national interest instead of his own sectarian political twist," said Green Party co-leader Russel Norman.
Labour leader David Shearer also accused Mr Key of releasing security information to serve his own ends, and said he had alerted risky individuals they were being watched.
"You might as well send them a postcard. It's incredibly dumb, this is not Boy's Own," he said in parliament.
The bill passed its second reading by 61 votes to 59.
