To complete this deception, a large body of ‘moderates’ continue to spew such ridiculous claims as “Islam means Peace” thereby keeping non-Muslims from actually reading the Qur’an, the Sira, the Hadith, or actually looking into the past 1400 years of history. Police investigate Iraq veteran Kyle Tyrrell over melee with Torquay fisherman

A RETIRED lieutenant-colonel and Iraq veteran is being investigated after a melee with fishermen on the Surf Coast.

Kyle Tyrrell, 47, suffered minor injuries and says his wife, Liana, was punched in the face in Sunday’s conflict at the Cosy Corner beach at Torquay.

At least one of the fishermen was taken to hospital.

On social media, Mr Tyrrell wrote of what happened and urged people to protect “our women ... our country is being overrun by Muslim scum”.

“It was an added bonus to witness a few of our attackers be brought to hospital by ambulance after we arrived, sucking on the pain whistles.”

Speaking to the Herald Sun , he was confident he would not be charged: “I was just protecting my wife and daughter, like any man.”

Mrs Tyrrell, 30, said on seeing one of the men put a crab pot in the water, she told him the area was a marine sanctuary and fishing was banned.

Mr Tyrell believes his attack was racially motivated.
“Liana said nicely to him that if you put that in there, you may get in trouble, as you are
not meant to have it. That was it, and he turned on her,” Mr Tyrrell said.

He said he heard his wife’s screams and, seeing a man attacking her, ran to her aid. After he got the man into a headlock, he said up to eight other men ran in.

The war veteran, a qualified instructor in the martial art of Krav Maga, said he ended up on the ground and was kicked in the head. The couple believe the attack was racially and culturally motivated.

“I’m a war veteran and I fought in the Middle East. The main attacker was Muslim and my take is he probably didn’t like being told what to do from a woman,” Mr Tyrrell said.

“This guy was calling Liana a white s--- and a white whore and telling her: ‘Your husband needs to teach you a lesson’.”

A shaken Mrs Tyrrell wants the man she says attacked her charged.

Mr Tyrrell, who suffers post-traumatic stress disorder, has been trying to adapt to civilian life since retiring in 2011.

He has received Divisional Commanders and Land Commanders commendations for exemplary service, the Commandants Prize, and a Commendation for Distinguished Service in the 2007 Queen’s Birthday Honours for leadership and courage in action.

No charges have been laid and police inquiries continue.

Former Australian PM Tony Abbott gets it right AGAIN: "It’s not culturally insensitive to demand loyalty to Australia and respect for Western civilisation. Cultures are not all equal"

The religion of Islam must reform

Tony Abbott
The Daily Telegraph
December 9 2015

"It’s not culturally insensitive to demand loyalty to Australia and respect for Western civilisation. Cultures are not all equal. We should be ready to proclaim the clear superiority of our culture to one that justifies killing people in the name of God."

AROUND the world, terrorists screaming out Allah-u-Akbar are killing decent people going about their daily lives.

So far, three innocent people have died in terrorist incidents in Australia: Katrina Dawson and Tori Johnson in the Martin Place siege a year ago and Curtis Cheng outside Parramatta police station in October.

So far our police and security services have responded with great professionalism to the terrorist threat and our people have taken this new challenge in their stride.

At every level, though, our response needs to escalate as the danger intensifies.

In the past few weeks there’s been the bombing of a Russian airliner over Sinai killing 224 people, the multiple attacks in Paris killing 130, bombings in the Middle East killing 75, the massacre of 14 people in California (it now seems) and a four-day lockdown of Brussels.

Dealing with terrorism and the Islamist fanaticism that inspires it is the great challenge of our time. Obviously there needs to be a very strong security response at home and abroad.

We need to be able to deal with terrorists and would-be terrorists here in Australia and to destroy the so-called Islamic State caliphate in Syria and Iraq that’s inspiring them. My government boosted funding to police and security agencies, passed four sets of legislation with more power to arrest and detain terror suspects, and committed to stripping terrorists who are dual nationals of their citizenship.

Australian jets are bombing terrorist targets in the Middle East and our soldiers are advising and training the Iraqi army.

At best this is containing the death cult — but not destroying it. That’s why the US is now sending special operations troops into the Middle East to fight rather than just to advise and train.

President Obama is now showing the will to win that’s needed for a safer world and he needs our support.

PM Turnbull is talking to our allies about what else we might do. This could include more RAAF support for the air campaign and allowing our soldiers to broaden their mission to help local forces.

The security response is necessary but it’s not sufficient. There also needs to be a concerted “hearts and minds” campaign against the versions of Islam that make excuses for terrorists.

Although most Muslims utterly reject terrorism, some are all too ready to justify “death to the infidel”.

Surveys of British and French Muslims typically show up to 30 per cent sympathising with the aims if not the methods of Islamic State.

Demonising Islam generally or all Muslims could bring on the “clash of civilisations” that academic Samuel Huntington feared two decades back and make “Islam’s bloody borders” even more dangerous. But we can’t remain in denial about the massive problem within Islam.

Islam never had its own version of the Reformation and the Enlightenment or a consequent acceptance of pluralism and the separation of church and state.

Fortunately there are numerous Muslim leaders who think their faith needs to modernise from the kill-or-be-killed milieu of the Prophet Mohammed.

A year ago, President el-Sisi of Egypt told the imams of the Al-Azhar University in Cairo that Islam needed nothing less than a “religious revolution” to correct centuries of false ideas that were making Islam a menace to the wider world.

When Islamic State first swept into Iraq, Prime Minister Najib of Malaysia said that it was “against God, against Islam and against our common humanity”.

After one of his worshippers murdered a police employee, the chairman of the Parramatta mosque declared that “if you don’t like Australia, leave”.

Islam needs to delegitimise the urge to “behead all those who insult the Prophet” but only Muslims can do this. That’s why everyone interested in a safer world should be reaching out to “live and let live” Muslims and encouraging them to reclaim their faith from the zealots.

In Australia that means talking to decent people who happen to be Muslim as well as to “official” Muslims inclined to see “Islamophobia” in any criticism.

Saturday’s Daily Telegraph reported local Muslim leaders blaming Islamic State on Western foreign policy but this self-excusing rubbish ignores the fact that the death cult’s victims have mostly been Muslims who think differently.

THEIR ABC Still pondering just how children could be induced into Islamic Terrorism... after all Islam means Peace doesn't it?

It’s also time Australians stopped being apologetic about the values that have made our country as free, fair and prosperous as any on Earth.

Where hate preaching is not illegal it should at least be thoroughly answered point-by-point with a very robust defence of human rights and responsibilities.

It’s not culturally insensitive to demand loyalty to Australia and respect for Western civilisation. Cultures are not all equal. We should be ready to proclaim the clear superiority of our culture to one that justifies killing people in the name of God.

Abbott refuses to kneel whilst Turnbull calls for "Political solution" for Islamic Sociopath's Inc.problem.

Tony Abbott says Islam must change, and we shouldn’t apologise for our Western values

EXCLUSIVE Simon Benson
National Political Editor
The Daily Telegraph
December 9 2015

TONY Abbott has called for a religious revolution within Islam as he urges Australians to stop apologising for their Western values and culture.

Writing exclusively for The Daily Telegraph today — a week before the anniversary of the Sydney Lindt Cafe siege — the former prime minister warns of a “clash of civilisations” unless Islam undergoes a global reform.

In an article likely to invite controversy, Mr Abbott says Australia and the West can no longer live in denial about the “problem within Islam”, and that while most Muslims rejected terrorism, some were “all too ready to justify ‘death to the infidel’.”

“Islam needs to delegitimise the urge to ‘behead all those who insult the Prophet’ but only Muslims can do this,” Mr Abbott writes.

“Demonising Islam generally or all Muslims could bring on the ‘clash of civilisations’ that academic Samuel Huntington feared two decades back and make ‘Islam’s bloody borders’ even more dangerous.

“But we can’t remain in denial about the massive problem within Islam.

“Islam has never had its own version of the Reformation and the Enlightenment or a consequent acceptance of pluralism and the separation of church and state.”

Mr Abbott’s comments will be seen as reinforcing a growing number of Coalition MPs who have broken ranks with Prime Minister

Malcolm Turnbull and called on Muslim leaders to do more to counter violent extremism.

“Everyone interested in a safer world should reach out to ‘live and let live’ Muslims and encourage them to reclaim their faith from

the zealots,” Mr Abbott writes.

“In Australia, that means talking to decent people who happen to be Muslim as well as to ‘official’ Muslims inclined to see ‘Islamophobia’ in any criticism.

“Surveys of British and French Muslims typically show up to 30 per cent sympathising with the aims if not the methods of Islamic State.

“Fortunately, there are numerous Muslim leaders who think their faith needs to modernise from the kill-or-be-killed milieu of the Prophet Mohammed.”

Praising US President Barack Obama for stepping up the military campaign against IS, Mr Abbott says it won’t be enough on its own.

“There also needs to be a concerted ‘hearts and minds’ campaign against the versions of Islam that make excuses for terrorists,” he writes.

Mr Abbott also warns of a cultural cringe preventing an honest debate about the issue and calls on Australians to proclaim the secular values on which the nation was built.

“It’s also time Australians stopped being apologetic about the values that have made our country as free, fair and prosperous as any on Earth,” Mr Abbott writes.

“It’s not culturally insensitive to demand loyalty to Australia ... we should be ready to proclaim the clear superiority of our culture to one that justifies killing people in the name of God.”

Serial offender who assaulted police given good-behaviour bond and community work order

LEIGH VAN DEN BROEKE
The Daily Telegraph
November 28 2015

All this Pious Muslim Savage has to do between now and the next time he caves in a NSW Police officers face is to do is prey at his local Mosque and have his Imam say he folded  envelopes for taxpayer funded Multicultural / Harmony Day community out reach  projects and he will AGAIN walk free. What better Mad Dog to let loose on Judeo Christian Western Democracy than the Rabid Mad Dog of Islam ?protected by the Progressive Lefts laws of Racial Discrimination and all cultures behaviours are EQUAL.
No wonder the Muslim SAVAGE is laughing, I would still be in Jail if I hit a Copper ONCE (AND RIGHTLY SO)
Sydney's Occupied Territories are now ruled by Muslim Courts, the Labor Green Loons would say that that is ok how about Australians and THEIR Police Force members?
No rumblings from the NSW Police Association ... oh thats right their job is to collect Union Fees to fund the Islam friendly Labor Green Loons.

-------------------------

WITH a broad smile and casual wave, this serial police assaulter avoided jail for a third time when he faced Parramatta Local Court.

Abdulrahman Mohamed Atteya was given an Intensive Correction Order and good behaviour bond after being found guilty of attacking his fiancee and punching a police officer at his Granville home in October 2014.

The 22-year-old gave Constable Joel Swales a black eye as the officer tried to handcuff him in a clash with his family and police.

According to court documents, officers were investigating a domestic violence report in which Atteya attacked his former fiancee.

He slammed her against a brick wall and repeatedly hit her before grabbing her throat and squeezing while saying “I’m going to kill you” until a passer-by intervened, court documents said.

At the time of his arrest, Atteya was on a two-year suspended sentence for attacking police and resisting arrest in September 2013.

He was also facing two charges of assaulting police on December 20, 2013 and was put on a further 18-month suspended sentence.

Atteya had been found guilty of common assault, resisting an officer in the execution of duty and assaulting a police officer in execution of duty.

“The whole incident once the police arrived … was absolutely deplorable.”

His defence lawyer argued that Atteya had not offended since the 2014 incident.

“I would urge your honour to give him his last reprieve,” the lawyer said.

“All the progress he has made would be lost (if he were to go to jail).”

Magistrate Shane McAnulty said the attack was “particularly violent”.

“The whole incident once the police arrived … was absolutely deplorable,” he said.

Mr McAnulty sentenced Atteya to a two-year good behaviour bond and an Intensive Correction Order for 20 months in which he will perform 32 hours of community service a week. He will also have to submit to alcohol and drug tests.

A police spokeswoman said they were “looking at that ruling”.

Deputy Premier and Police Minister Troy Grant said he was disappointed anyone would show such disrespect to police officers.

“The NSW Government is looking at ways to increase social cohesion but we also need to bring back a strong onus on individual responsibility,” Mr Grant said.

LIKE most doctrinaire left-wingers, Wendy Bacon takes an unusual view of things. Last December, for example, the Sydney journalism academic gazed around the central business district and noted an exceptional reduction in traffic.

Impressed by this, Bacon jumped on Twitter and declared: “Clearing of cars in CBD gives you idea of how pleasant carless city might be (despite context).”

The “context” to which Bacon referred was, of course, the Lindt cafe siege. While most of us were gripped by the horror of an Islamic terrorist taking 18 frightened Australians hostage in the middle of our city, Bacon instead took the time to consider certain urban transport advantages.

Wendy Bacon She’s an odd one, even by the warped standards of her political allies.
She’s an odd one, even by the warped standards of her political allies. Lately Wendy has
returned to the Left’s eternal misery topic, the treatment of people in Australia’s detention centres. The other day she wrote: “Conditions for New Zealanders on Christmas Island only highlights crude out of control authoritarianism of Border Force.” Bacon helpfully provided a link to a Guardian piece that would reveal this “out of control authoritarianism”.

A fellow Twitter user by the name of Monsterdome checked the provided link and came back with a question. “How does it highlight that, Wendy?” he asked. “The example given was of birthday chocolates withheld. Not exactly the Gulag.”

Wendy wasn’t swayed. “Chocolates is detail. They have served their time. Why treat like criminals?”

Besides Leftists, the only other people on earth who regard confectionary denial as criminal treatment are three years old and usually in front of me at the supermarket check-out yelling at their mothers. The modern Left has now sunk to the same emotional level as sugar-dependent toddlers.

Incidentally, that Guardian piece opened with the remarkable line: “New Zealand detainees on Christmas Island are so angry, hungry and traumatised they are allegedly considering rioting.”

Only famously polite New Zealanders could ever be so described. Riots are generally spontaneous affairs involving very little consideration. Possibly our Kiwi crims on Christmas Island have organised a riot committee, where the latest proposals for a violent insurrection are discussed over tea and “buscuts”.

The piece also claimed New Zealand Labour MP Kelvin Davis, a recent visitor to the Christmas Island detention centre, “was drug tested and escorted into an airless room where detainees were brought in two at a time for 30 minutes.” If true, this is rather more worrying than mere chocolate deprivation. People generally die after just three minutes in an airless environment. Leaving them there for half an hour seems extremely inefficient, at the very least.

Still, mass asphyxiation should quell those incipient riots. Well done, border officials. And well done to Davis, too, who for all his exaggerations actually did visit the detention centre before offering an opinion. This whole “visiting places and then talking about them” thing, also known as “reporting”, might catch on one day. Although, following the experience of Chris Kenny, you might ask why anyone would bother.

Kenny, a columnist at The Australian, spent several months negotiating with authorities before becoming the first foreign journalist in 18 months to visit Nauru, now home to about 600 asylum seekers. His visit coincided with the return to Nauru of Abyan, a 23-year-old Somali and alleged rape victim who was earlier flown to Australia for an abortion.

Abyan, not her real name, declined to have the abortion, according to the Department of Immigration. Given Nauru’s small asylum seeker population, it took little time for Kenny to find her and ask her side of the story.

Kenny and a photographer from The Australian dealt respectfully with Abyan over the course of two interviews in two days. She told Kenny that she still wanted an abortion but not in Nauru or Australia. She agreed to be photographed but not to show her face. When she’d finished stating her case, Kenny and the photographer left.

Kenny’s reward for his straightforward and illuminating interviews was to be attacked online by demented Leftists.

“The only journalist granted a visa to Nauru has been Chris Kenny, who with a police escort immediately went to beat down the door of Nauru rape victim Abyan,” claimed online rag Independent Australia.

This insane fantasy was immediately seized on as pure truth by Twitter’s idiot army, who accused Kenny of “barging in on Abyan with an armed posse”, “harassing a young refugee who’s pregnant” and of being “knowingly co-opted in (a) Nauru propaganda exercise.”

Labor MP Graham Perrett said Kenny was “obscene & insensitive & very close to criminal behaviour … what a grub.”

Bizarrely, the notion that Australian Federal Police officers were involved somehow became a Twitter truth as well. Kenny never saw a single such officer during his whole time on the island.

By the end of the week small signs of sanity began to emerge. Perrett withdrew his defamatory slur (“I retract & apologise to him for any hurt & embarrassment it caused”) and Independent Australia deleted its entire ridiculous article. Even the Leftist cranks at vice.com conceded that Kenny’s foes had overreached: “His article is far more reasonable than his many critics would predict (Abyan’s story is given significant room) …”

Yet these positive developments were overwhelmed by continuing waves of Leftist rage. Some people just can’t handle the truth. Just like those supermarket three-year-olds, they prefer sweet deception.

IDOL TALK FROM A BIG FAN OF MAO

MALCOLM Turnbull is still enjoying the golden early phase of his prime ministership, during which he can say remarkably stupid things and not be pulled up for it. Recently the Great Communicator told Fairfax that he wants to, as Fairfax put it, “change the culture; the culture of government, the culture of politics, the culture of business. Even the way Australia presents itself to the world”.

That’s a lot of change. And who might be Turnbull’s guide for these seismic shifts?

“He cites the founder of communist China, Mao Zedong, in a famous declaration attributed to him in the creation of the People’s Republic of China in 1949 when he said: ‘The Chinese people have stood up!’ And Turnbull adapts it for Australia: ‘’Modern China is built upon an assertion of national sovereignty. And that is why we say to China, ‘The Australian people stand up!’ repeating it in Mandarin.”

Just by the by, Mao Zedong killed about 45 million people according to some estimates. Nice fellow you’re quoting there, Malcolm. And not for the first time. Back in 2011, Turnbull gave a speech at the London School of Economics:

“The economic success of modern China, whether manifested in gleaming new cities, fast trains and freeways, or in tanks and stealth fighter jets, is the fulfilment of Mao’s proud boast in 1949 from the top of Tien An Men. ‘Zhong guo ren min zanqilai le’ — The Chinese people have stood up. And so they have — and we are now all taking notice.”

At the time, The Australian’s Greg Sheridan wrote that Turnbull’s LSE speech and another to Asialink helped explain “why he was such a disastrous Liberal leader and why he should never be considered for the leadership again”.

“They contradict Liberal Party policy, they contradict Liberal leader Tony Abbott and Liberal foreign affairs spokeswoman Julie Bishop, and they show Turnbull as well to the left not only of his party but of the Gillard government, and indeed of Kevin Rudd,” Sheridan continued.

“They suggest Turnbull’s values and world view are in many respects outside the mainstream of his party, and on some key matters outside the mainstream of Australian life.”

Yet today Turnbull says exactly the same dumb things he was saying four years ago and now the media adores him for it. This might just be because, to paraphrase Sheridan, the media’s values and world view are also in many respects outside the mainstream of Australian life.

SMALL ACTS OF MICROAGGRESSION UPSET LITTLE MINDS

HAVE you ever committed an act of microaggression? Perhaps you have, and you don’t even know it.

Microaggression does not mean beating up midgets. Rather, “microaggressions are the everyday verbal, non-verbal and environmental slights, snubs or insults, whether intentional or unintentional, that communicate hostile, derogatory, or negative messages to target persons based solely upon their marginalised group membership.”

That’s according to the University of California, Los Angeles, which also provides a list of microaggressive assaults. For example, if you say: “I believe the most qualified person should get the job”, what you’re really saying is: “The playing field is even so if women cannot make it, the problem is with them.”

Modern university students, the most pansified bunch of panic babies ever to stain this earth, are absolutely rabid for microaggression. Presumably this is because actual aggression, or even any approximation of it, has been completely removed from their timid little lives.

These students are so hyper-alert for offence that they can detect minute acts of microaggression with the same unerring precision as a electron holography microscope scanning for subatomic particles.

The latest microaggressive crime is, in fact, criticism of those screaming about microaggression.

“The phrase ‘politically correct’ is now a microaggression, according to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee,” US writer Peter Hasson reports. “The university also claims the word ‘lame’ is a microaggression that somehow both ‘ridicules and ignores the lives of amputees’.”

Kids, you don’t belong at university. You belong back in kindergarten, where everything is soft and the nice grown-ups never say mean things. Readers are invited to submit their ideas for dealing with these children. You are welcome to be as macroaggressive as you wish.

Fury as Muslim students allowed to walk out of assembly during national anthem

Andrew Jefferson
The Daily Telegraph
October 27 2015

A PUBLIC primary school has come under fire for allowing Muslim students to walk out of assembly while the national anthem is being sung.

Cranbourne Carlisle Primary School principal Cheryl Irving said she was allowing Shi’a children to opt out of singing or listening to the anthem because it was a religious month of mourning and they should not be forced to take part in joyous events.

“Muharram is a Shi’a cultural observation marking the death of Imam Hussein,” Ms Irving said. “This year it falls between Tuesday October 13 and Thursday November 12.

“Prior to last week’s Years 2-6 assembly, in respect of this religious observance, students were given the opportunity to leave the hall before music was played.”

But Lorraine McCurdy, who has two grandchildren at the school, said she was furious when school officials invited students to leave during Advance Australia Fair.

“Two children got up and said ‘welcome to our assembly’ and with that a teacher came forward and said all those who feel it’s against their culture may leave the room,” Ms McCurdy told Melbourne radio station 3AW yesterday.

“With that about 30 or 40 children got up and left the room. We sang the national anthem and they all came back in.

“I saw red, I’m Australian and I felt ‘you don’t walk out on my national anthem’.”

Independent Senator Jacqui Lambie also hit out at the school, which promotes the ethos of “Many Cultures, One Community”, after the revelations first emerged in the community’s local newspaper.

“I find these schools allowing this to happen disgusting. I don’t think religion needs to be brought into the national anthem,” she said.

While the school has received the full backing of Victoria’s Department of Education, the situation could not be any different north of the state border.

NSW’s Department of Education last night told The Daily Telegraph that students would not be allowed to sit out the national anthem in NSW under any circumstances.

“It is not acceptable for any student in a NSW public school to walk out during the anthem and disciplinary action would be taken against the student,” a spokesman said.

More Horrible than Rape: "The rape left her “unclean” and the mother allegedly demanded the killing to restore the family’s honor"

Thanks to Jill for the following article

More horrible than rape: Spengler

ASIA TIMES NEWS & FEATURES,
BY DAVID P. GOLDMAN
OCTOBER 14, 2015

The body of a 20-year-old Syrian woman, “Rokstan M.,” was unearthed from a shallow grave in the small Saxon town of Dessau last week. Her father and brothers stabbed her to death on her mother’s orders, after she was gang-raped by three men. The rape left her “unclean” and the mother allegedly demanded the killing to restore the family’s honor. German police are seeking the father and brothers. That by itself is not newsworthy; what is newsworthy is the news itself, which appeared in not one of Germany’s major daily newspapers or websites. The tabloid Bild-Zeitung ran the story, along with the regional press, while the arbiters of enlightened opinion buried it. Der Spiegel, the country’s biggest news site, and the Frankfurter Algemeine Zeitung, the newspaper of record, made no mention.

The case of Rokstan M. is heart-rending. She had found work in Germany as a translator for the government, but she knew her family would track her down and kill her. “I am awaiting death. But I am too young to die,” she had written on a social media profile. Her story deserves a line or two in the quality press. But it’s one of many that German leaders want to ignore.

Political leaders in Germany—which may absorb 1.5 million migrants this year—are struggling to respond to reports of a sex crime epidemic among newly-arrived Muslims. Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere urged Germans not to believe rumors of widespread rape at refugee centers, while Germany’s police union chief Rainer Wendt warned, “There is a lot of glossing over going on. But this doesn’t represent reality.” Wendt added, “It is understandable that there is the desire to calm things down politically.”

Germany’s elite knows perfectly well that the migrants bring social pathologies, because they have already seen the world’s worst sex crime epidemic unfold in Scandinavia. Sweden now has the highest incidence of reported rape outside of a few African countries, and nearly ten times the rate of its European peers—and all this has happened in the past ten years. Sweden ranks near the top of the World Economic Forum’s Gender Gap Index, yet it has become the most dangerous country for women outside of Africa, with an incidence of rape ten times that of its European peers. Sweden’s political leaders not only refuse to take action, but have made it a criminal offense to talk about it.

Even in liberated, feminist, gender-neutral Sweden, there is something more horrible than rape, something horrible enough to persuade the political elite to sacrifice the physical and mental health of tens of thousands of Swedish women. That is the horror of social disintegration in the Muslim world. Sweden opened its borders to refugees twenty years before the migrant flood arrived on Germany’s doorstep, and the foreign born rose from 9% of the population in 1990 to 15.4% in 2012. Foreigners have a higher birth rate, so the percentage is higher including second-generation immigrants.

There have been protests, to be sure, and nationalist parties like the Sweden Democrats have gained support on an anti-immigration platform, but Sweden will remain supine as its social fabric unravels. So, I expect, will Germany. Europe is transfixed by the horror unfolding from Libya to Afghanistan, as one of the world’s major civilizations unravels in real time. In its moment of agony, the Muslim world’s most potent weapon is its own weakness. The human cost of the collapse of Libya, Yemen, Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria is horrendous, but it is small thus far compared to the horrors that would attend instability in Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Bangladesh. The West can’t bear to look at it.

A month after the 2001 attack on the Twin Towers I warned that “radical Islam could win,” by the same methods that nearly won the last world war for Hitler:

Al-Qaeda wants no territory, no conversions, no loot, no slaves. It wishes to destroy the West and happily will sacrifice millions of Muslim lives in order to do so. Indeed, the mass sacrifice of Muslim lives may lie at the heart of its battle plan. It has more in common with the Dostoyevsky of The Possessed or the Wagner of Die Goetterdaemmerung than with the Muslim conquerors of the Middle Ages…

Horror is the great vulnerability of the Western. The Nazis understood this and undertook a campaign “des Schreckens” (to cause horror) and “Entsetzens” (terror, literally: dislodgement). Horror was not merely an instrument of war in the traditional sense, but a form of Wagnerian theater, or psychological warfare on the grand scale. Hitler’s tactical advantage lay in his capacity to be more horrible than his opponents could imagine.

That is why I have been writing on the subject these past fifteen years: to harden hearts and inoculate Westerners against this vulnerability.

The incidence of rape in Sweden has tripled in the past ten years as the country became Europe’s premier destination for Muslim immigrants. Writing for the Gatestone Institute, Ingrid Carlqvist and Lars Hedegaard observe,

Since 2000, there has only been one research report on immigrant crime. It was done in 2006 by Ann-Christine Hjelm from Karlstads University. It emerged that in 2002, 85% of those sentenced to at least two years in prison for rape in 2002 were foreign born or second-generation immigrants.

A 1996 report by the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention reached the conclusion that immigrants from North Africa (Algeria, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia) were 23 times as likely to commit rape as Swedish men. The figures for men from Iraq, Bulgaria and Romania were, respectively, 20, 18 and 18. Men from the rest of Africa were 16 times more prone to commit rape; and men from Iran, Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia, 10 times as prone as Swedish men.

A new trend reached Sweden with full force over the past few decades: gang rape — virtually unknown before in Swedish criminal history. The number of gang rapes increased spectacularly between 1995 and 2006. Since then no studies of them have been undertaken.

Sweden not only stands by while large number of its women are raped, but outlaws public discussion of the causes. Michael Hess, a Social-Democratic population, was condemned by a Swedish court under a law forbidding denigration of ethnic groups. for writing in 2014, “There is a strong connection between rapes in Sweden and the number of immigrants from MENA-countries [Middle East and North Africa].”

Why should Sweden inflict such damage upon itself and criminalize dissent against the policies which caused it? Ideology can’t be the whole explanation. Sweden is committed to a postmodern multicultural ideology, to be sure, but other ideologies have a voice, feminism. Yet the feminists are mute on the subject of Sweden’s rape epidemic. That is not because feminists condone rape, but because they believe that there is something even more horrible than rape.

There are rare moments in history where long-term trends impinge on short-term events, and we have the misfortune to be living in one of them. The world has become very strange indeed. In the past week alone we witnessed the murder by suicide-bomb in Ankara, with the likely complicity of Turkey’s government, and an epidemic of random killings of Israelis by seemingly ordinary Palestinian Arabs, incited by their clergy and their “moderate” as well as extremist political leaders. ISIS continues to horrify the world.

Israel has sustained terror attacks on a far greater scale; in March 2002 alone, 130 died in suicide bombings during the Second Intifada. The attacks were well organized, with networks of explosives experts, planners, transporters supporting the actual bombers. It took Israeli security three years to disrupt these operations and contain the threat. In some ways, the recent assaults are stranger and more disturbing. They appear to involve citizens with no overt radical history, such as the Arab employee of the Israel telephone company who drove his van into a group of pedestrians, then left his car and hacked a 60-year-old rabbi to death with an axe. The grisly affair was captured by a security camera, and is painful to watch. Israeli and West Bank Arabs with no previous history of violence, including young teenagers, appear to erupt into spontaneous rage and initiate attacks against Israeli targets of convenience, with the certain knowledge that they will die after inflicting harm on Israelis that is slight compared to the suicide bombings of 2002.

The ostensible provocation for the attacks is an urban legend, namely Jewish designs on the al-Aksa Mosque, despite the Israeli government’s vigorous enforcement of its ban against Jewish prayer on the Temple Mount. Rabbi Yehuda Glick, an advocate of Jewish prayer on the Temple Mount, observes that Israeli police have arrested Jews there “on suspicion of muttering.” The supposed plot against al-Aksa is not the silliest nor the most destructive rumor to trouble the Muslim world. Polio has returned to Pakistan and Nigeria because local Islamic authorities have issued fatwas against vaccination, claiming that the vaccine is a Western plot to reduce Muslim fertility.

There have been many wars of extermination, but there is something uniquely horrifying about today’s terrorism. Never in the history of warfare have tens of thousands of individuals stood ready to commit suicide in order to harm enemy civilians. Never for that matter, has one combatant (Hamas in the 2014 Gaza rocket war) sought to maximize civilian casualties on its own side. The Japanese killed over 20 million Chinese during the Second World War, but committed suicide in combat in the attempt to sink enemy warships, not kill enemy civilians. The Nazis did not ask their soldiers to kill themselves in order to kill Jews.

Bret Stephens, the Wall Street Journal’s chief foreign policy commentator, calls this behavior psychosis. That begs the question: Which kind? DSM-IV doesn’t have a name for it. Perhaps we should call it “Social Death Derangement Syndrome,” or SDDS.

The fear of social death that comes with civilizational decline is unspeakably worse than individual death, and horror before the prospect of social death gives impulse to atrocious behavior. More precisely, it makes it impossible to say what is atrocious and what is not. “We cannot, indeed, imagine our own death; whenever we try to do so we find that we survive ourselves as spectators,” said Freud. That is not quite true: we often tremble at the prospect of our own death in fear and horror, which we would not do if we did not imagine it. Our consciousness, rather, is both individual and social, and we regard our own death with the inner eye of those with whom we share a common language and aspirations, which will not end with out physical existence.

Unless it does. That is the ultimate horror. It is one thing to imagine being a spectator at your own funeral, and another to imagine yourself shut into perpetual silence, cut off from all human contact, with no past and no future. That is a living death, a mental presence without consciousness. Imagine, for example, that on your deathbed you are the last speaker of a language that will become extinct upon your passing, erasing your memory and your history. That is a horror much worse than Hell, where at least you can chat with your neighbor in the brimstone pit. At least the shade of Achilles could gripe to Odysseus about the misery of the underworld; imagine how the son of Peleus would have felt if all memory of Greece along with its language were forever extinguished, and he sat in Hades alone and in perpetual silence.

That is how it feels to be trapped in a dying civilization.Rationality ceases to have meaning. Upon learning that you have an inoperable malignant brain tumor, you might cash in your insurance policy and go on a spree—but not if everyone who speaks your language and shares your memories already is extinct. In that case there is nothing to do with your money. You can sit at the bar by yourself and drink Chateau Petrus. Or you can go out and stab the next Israeli you run into.

The death of Muslim civilization is too horrible for the Germans to contemplate, because the bell tolls for them, too. And it is particularly painful for Germans to consider the possibility that the source of the terrible events that have driven millions to Germany is the character of the people themselves. Syria has torn itself to pieces not only because of the malfeasance of its leaders but rather because of the character of its people. Once the Sunni revolt against Shia-majority government in Iraq enlisted elements of Saddam Hussein’s army as well as the “Sunni Awakening” funded by Gen. Petraeus during the 2007-2008 “surge,” sectarian war to the death became inevitable in Syria, with both sides inflicting the most revolting atrocities imaginable.

The Assad regime has killed more people because it has the aircraft to attack Sunni civilians, but the Sunni opposition–including the “moderate,” American-backed Sunni opposition–has committed mass murder and bragged about it. Human Rights Watch in October 2013 that in one operation near Latakia in the Alawite heartland, Sunni “fighters killed 190 civilians. Residents and hospital staff in Latakia, the nearest city, spoke of burned bodies, beheaded corpses and graves being dug in backyards. Two hundred people from the area remain hostage.” Free Syrian Army chief of staff Salim Idriss, the poster-boy for “moderate opposition,” praised the operation in a video and took partial responsibility. ISIS has captured the world’s imagination and turned its stomach with public executions and the destruction of archaeological treasures, but that is how Muslims have fought wars for 1,500 years. Just ask the Christians of the Balkans or the Armenians of Anatolia about the Turks.

Very large parts of the Syrian population are complicit in the civil war’s atrocities, almost certainly by intent. Mass complicity in war crimes has two functions–first, to destroy the enemy’s will, and second, to make entire populations complicit in the atrocities. The Nazis made sure that the German population knew about the Holocaust in order to bind them closer to their leaders. There was a third function of Nazi terror as well: I suspect that their Schrecklichkeit also was intended to poison Christian belief: the Nazis also knew how to read Ivan Karamazov.

Horror does not deter Muslims, because Muslims see the world in terms of unconstrained will. Allah’s will governs the spin of every electron and the path of every bullet. It is unfathomable and arbitrary, like nature in the pagan world. Islam can endure horror, but not humiliation. But horror is the Achilles’ heel of the Christian world, whose founding premise is that God offers unselfish love and unmerited grace to mankind, and in a sense stacked the deck in favor of goodness. The perception that the universe is cruel and without purpose is poison to Christianity. That is the great paradox of salvation: If God’s unselfish love and unmerited grace offer salvation to all humankind, what are we to make of those to willfully reject it?

All the promises of heavenly bliss are not worth the torment of a single child, said Dostoyevsky’s Ivan Karamazov. But Karamazov spoke of the aberrant behavior of a few cruel people within the Christian world, whose actions the vast majority of Christians would condemn. The news photo of one drowned boy overwhelmed Europe. What does one do with a culture that routinely commits atrocities?

“The Germans will never forgive the Jews for Auschwitz,” quipped the Israeli psychiatrist Zvi Rex, and there is deep truth in the joke. Auschwitz is killing off the Germans while the Jews flourish, at least in Israel. Israeli Jews have three children per female while Germans have less than 1.4. At current fertility rates, there will be more Israelis than Germans under the age of 25 by the end of the present century. The share of Germany’s population over 60, meanwhile, will rise to 45%.

The impulse to open Germany to Muslim refugees is irresistable for Germany’s elite, prominently so in the case of Chancellor Angela Merkel. To understand her motives one must consider that she is not only a German, but also a Christian. “Belief in God and closeness to the church have molded me and occupied me since my childhood,” she wrote in an essay entitled “Why I am a Christian” just before her election victory. A pastor’s daughter, she grew up in atheist East Germany and maintained her belief despite the hostility of the state and her peers. “Since my youth I knew that I followed an inner compass through my commitment to God and his Church, one that was rejected by the [East German] state and the majority of the population. It was not always easy to stand by Christ. In contrast to most young people I went to Christian instruction and confirmation classes, rather than to the [state] ceremonies for youth.”

All the promises of heavenly bliss are not worth the torment of a single child, said Ivan Karamazov. The image of one drowned boy overwhelmed Europe. Only a few hundred thousand people have died in Iraq and Syria during the past fifteen years, but zeros could appear to the right of the death toll before long. Whether the migrant tidal wave arose spontaneously, or whether it was channeled by Turkey, is a secondary question. The Christian mind cannot absorb the horror of human suffering on an apocalyptic scale, and what we see now is tiny compared to what is likely to come next.

Judaism is more resilient in the face of horror, I think, because it assigns to humankind a higher degree of freedom, that is, the radical freedom to enter into partnership with the creator of the world and transform nature itself. The God that Judaism encounters in the world in which we find ourselves–this God, and not a God that satisfies the sensibilities of philosophers or theologians–left Creation intentionally incomplete so that man might have the freedom to become a partner in the work of creation. Chaos in the natural world and human wickedness are a divine challenge to humankind to rise to the status of co-creator. The possibility of radical freedom, of course, also implies the possibility of radical evil.

The Christian is reborn into the Church and enters its community as an individual. The Jew already was present in the congregation at Mount Sinai, where all Israel, including all future generations, heard the voice of God from the fiery mountain. The Christian ponders why bad things happen to good people; the Jew prays each morning in good times and bad, “How fortunate are we. How good is our portion, how pleasant our lot, how beautiful our heritage.” The deliverance at the Sea of Reeds is not a past event and Israel’s ultimate redemption is not a mere future: Judaism is simply the construction of a present in which all generations rejoice in Israel’s inheritance, and provide a context against which an individual’s suffering is measured. One might ask with Ivan Karamazov whether all this is worth the suffering of a single child. In the Jewish perception, it is worth it to God–not an abstract God, not a designer God to whom we attribute our own sensibilities, but YHWH with whom Abraham and Moses spoke.

The jihadists know just how to manipulate Western sensibilities. Catastrophic casualty levels are part of the program, at least in a number of theaters. Hamas in Gaza was the first combatant in history to deliberately maximize the number of casualties among its own civilians (by firing thousands of missiles at Israel during the summer of 2014 from densely-populated civilian areas). The Israel-Palestine conflict, though, is a sideshow in the Middle East; the disintegration of Libya, Syria, Iraq, Somalia, South Sudan and Yemen and the latent instability of Pakistan and other Muslim countries.

Only a few hundred thousand people have died in Iraq and Syria during the past fifteen years, but zeros could appear to the right of the death toll before long. Whether the migrant tidal wave arose spontaneously, or whether it was channeled by Turkey, is a secondary question. The Germans–the best Germans, like Chancellor Merkel–cannot absorb the horror of human suffering on the present scale, and what we see now is tiny compared to what is likely to come next.

The choices are between a near-apocalyptic level of horror, and a somewhat more limited horror. Whatever you can imagine, it will be worse. If the West invites the horror into its own home, though, it is unlikely to survive.

A Christian genocide is under way in the Middle East, with fears that Christianity will be extinguished in its birthplace................

Christians the Most at Risk

WHEN Tony Abbott committed Australia to taking an extra 12,000 refugees from Syria last month, he said Christians would be the priority. Malcolm Turnbull, then Communications Minister, agreed.

After all, Christians are the most persecuted people on Earth, as the latest report by Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need shows.
A Christian genocide is under way in the Middle East, with fears that Christianity will be extinguished in its birthplace.

And yet, now we hear that there will be no special treatment for Christians.
We will choose “the most vulnerable groups in those (refugee) camps”, Peter Shergold, the new co-ordinator-general for Refugee Resettlement in NSW, told the ABC. “I would expect a significant diversity.” That “diversity” reportedly is 50 per cent each of Christians and Muslims, half of whom are expected to be settled in NSW.

Have we bowed to United Nations’ criticism of our desire to favour Christian refugees?
The problem with choosing refugees from the camps is that Christians and other persecuted minorities — such as the Yazidis — are also being persecuted inside the camps, and so have been forced to seek refuge elsewhere.
If we choose only from the camps, not only are we not taking the most needy refugees but we are potentially welcoming their persecutors.
