DANISH police shot and wounded a man who tried to enter the home of Kurt Westergaard, who drew controversial cartoons of Islam's Prophet Mohammed, Danish security sources said.
The security sources said the man was close to radical Somali Islamists.

The Danish cartoonist, who has received several death threats since a Danish newspaper four years ago published his drawing featuring Mohammed wearing a turban in the shape of a bomb, was at home in Viby near the western city of Aarhus when the 27-year-old and two others tried to get in, daily Politiken reported online.
Guards repulsed the three intruders as security alarms were set off.
The wounded man was hospitalised.
Denmark's Ritzau news agency said a dozen police vehicles were at the scene while sappers were sent in to look for a bomb that may have been laid.
Contacted by AFP, Jutland police confirmed an incident near the home of the 74-year-old cartoonist but refused to give details pending the release of a statement later.
Westergaard is one of 12 cartoonists whose drawings of the Muslim prophet were first published in Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten in September 2005, sparking controversy among Muslims worldwide.
The 12 cartoons were considered offensive by many Muslims and their publication sparked violent protests worldwide in January and February 2006.
Demonstrators burned Danish flags in protests that culminated in February 2006 with the torching of Danish diplomatic offices in Damascus and Beirut and dozens of deaths in Nigeria, Libya and Pakistan.

THE US embassy in Indonesia on Thursday said it had received warning of a New Year terrorist attack from the governor of the resort island of Bali, the scene of multiple bombings targeting Westerners.
"There is an indication of an attack to Bali tonight," it said in a statement to US citizens carried on its website, quoting a message from Governor Mangku Pastika.
The embassy said the Bali Tourism Board had widely distributed the governor's message, which added: "Please don't panic, but put your security system to full alert."
The embassy said the message had been "shared verbatim for your information" but added that standard consular safety and security recommendations "remain valid".
Holidaymakers in Bali were on high alert last night after warnings of a New Year's Eve terror attack.
Indonesian woman Annie Made told the Daily Telegraph last night that police were everywhere in Bali's tourist district.
"All the streets are blocked off, and the hotels. The cars can't come into Legian,'' she said.
"There are police everywhere.''
She said staff at the Bali Aussie Bar and Restaurant in Kuta was preparing for a busy evening with tourists and locals.
"There are police everywhere looking after Bali. We are all okay, we hope nothing happen tonight,'' she said.
"Happy New Year.''
A DFAT spokeswoman said the Balinese Governor, Mangku Pastika had issued a statement of a possible terrorist attack.
"We understand this is a general warning. Indonesian security forces are on heightened alert this holiday season, as has been the case in past years,'' she said.
"Our travel advice for Indonesia has for some time advised Australians to "reconsider your need to travel to Indonesia, including Bali, at this time due to the very high threat of terrorist attack".''
These remind US citizens that Indonesia has been targeted by "violent elements" repeatedly since the Bali bombings of 2002 that killed 202 people, mainly foreign tourists including 88 Australians.
The embassy advises citizens to keep a "low profile" and be "vigilant and prudent at all times".
"US citizens must consider the security and safety preparedness of hotels, residences, restaurants, and entertainment or recreation venues that they frequent," it says.
Police said 7,000 security personnel including US-trained counter-terrorism units were being deployed around bars and nightclubs on Bali as the island prepared to celebrate the New Year.

A move by a major Florida county to auction foreclosed homes online has attracted potential buyers from Australia and New Zealand.
Florida's Miami-Dade County will start using the internet next month in a bid to help auction off tens of thousands of delinquent properties that have put it on the frontlines of the US foreclosure crisis.
The first auction on the website, www.miamidade.realforeclose.com, is scheduled for January 11 and will make Miami-Dade the largest of 12 Florida counties that are in the process of replacing courthouse auctions with online sales.
Lloyd McClendon, chief executive of RealAuction.com LLC, which has contracts to run the computer-based auctions across Florida, said the state is the first in the country to adopt the system allowing bidders to make offers from their home.
Mr McClendon said about 1,450 bidders had registered for Miami-Dade's online foreclosure auctions so far. Some are potential foreign-based buyers.
"We have had an increase in foreign bidders and, for some reason, especially in Australia or New Zealand," he said.
Florida had the highest rate of U.S. homes either in foreclosure or delinquent on mortgage payments throughout most of the last year, putting it at the centre of a crisis that has devastated families and communities across the United States.
The laws of most states require that property auctions take place "on the courthouse steps," Mr McClendon told

"It's better for bidders, more convenient, you now can place a bid from anywhere and I think that will broaden the base of bidders actually to a global level rather than just to those that could make it down to a physical or courtroom sale."
I have had personal experience with the US property down turn.
I can honestly say without hesitation, that if you are an Australian looking for a quality Planed Residential Development,PRD,you will find it in Florida, USA.
My personal experience is limited to Fort Lauderdale on the East Coast and Fort Myers on the West Coast of Florida,I lived in a PRD,in Fort Myers for three months in 2008,at Botanica Lakes,it was a first class development (having said that there are even better ones to be had depending upon the thickness of your wallet) even though only partially completed during my residence there.Fort Lauderdale, East Coast,I was there for around 8 weeks in 2007,and it was nice,Its like been on the set of Miami CSI,or whatever its called,however I think it would be more expensive to buy into than Fort Myers, however check it out and compare, I liked the buzz there once I got to the end of East Sunrise Blvd and started heading south to South Beach
Fort Myers reminded me of life in Sydney Australia 20 years ago.Polite,courteous,civil, hard working, friendly people,who take pride in their environment and surroundings.
One of my fondest memories was my 5 hour (return)walk along Tree Line Av. in search of the Florida Panther,I did see some, near the Airport, but I was on the wrong (right side of the road? I forget) to take a picture of them.
Fort Myers is a very beautiful place, nice beaches,not as good as say,the Northern Beaches of Sydney,but very nice none the less.
If Sydney,Australia was blown up today I would hope I could be washed up on the beaches of Fort Myers USA, alive,and into the arms of a certain Fort Myers resident.
Fort Myers is, based upon my experience living there, a very laid back comfortable place to live in.
If any Australians reading this are cashed up enough to swoop up some real estate bargains,my advice would be to go for it, but CHECK IT OUT 100% BEFORE You put pen to paper,you know, just like you would if you were buying a property in Australia.

A 50-year-old Turkish man was jailed for life in Germany on Tuesday over the brutal "honour killing" of his 20-year-old daughter, a murder carried out together with the victim's twin brother.
Gulsum Semin's brother was sentenced to nine-and-a-half years behind bars, while a 32-year-old Russian accomplice was given seven-and-a-half years by the court in Kleve, western Germany, a spokeswoman said.
The young woman, who had recently had an abortion, was lured to a patch of wasteland on March 2 where her brother and the accomplice strangled her with a cord and beat her in the face with a club and a tree branch, the court found.
The father, who was not named, was found to be the main instigator.

AN Australian union leader faces a lengthy stint in an Indonesian jail after allegedly trying to smuggle just 2g of marijuana hidden in a sock into Bali.
CFMEU official Robert Paul McJannett was arrested early yesterday at Bali's airport and is now in custody at the holiday island's police headquarters, being interrogated about the drugs found in his luggage.
The marijuana was allegedly in a plastic ziplock bag hidden in a sock along with sachets of coffee. Coffee is used to disguise the smell of drugs.
McJannett may be sent to Kerobokan jail, where Schapelle Corby, who was arrested in similar circumstances, and the heroin gang dubbed the Bali Nine, are held.
As he was transferred in handcuffs from the airport Customs office to the police station yesterday, McJannett, 48, asked why the "paparazzi" were photographing him.
McJannett, a Perth crane operator who this year challenged for leadership of the West Australian branch of the CFMEU, arrived in Bali with his 21-year-old son on Virgin flight 4172 about 11.30pm on Monday.
The pair had planned a five-day holiday in the popular resort island.
But when Customs officers searched McJannett's suitcase they allegedly found the 2g of marijuana.
Bagus Endro, the head of Customs investigations at Ngurah Rai airport, said an X-ray of McJannett's suitcase had raised suspicions because the tin foil had shown up.
Mr Endro said that when McJannett was initially approached he had refused to open the small bag containing the drugs.
He allegedly later claimed a business partner may have wanted to trap him.
The Customs official said McJannett had initially refused a urine test and had made a failed attempt to throw the drug into a drain in the detention room.
Under Indonesia's harsh drug laws, McJannett is likely to face charges of possession and importing drugs, which carry a sentence of up to 10 years behind bars.
He is the latest in a long line of Australians who have found themselves on the wrong side of Indonesia's drug regime after being arrested on Bali.
Former Gold Coast beauty therapy student Schapelle Corby is serving a 20-year sentence after being arrested with 4.1kg of marijuana in her luggage as she came into Bali.
Three members of the Bali Nine are currently on death row for their roles in an 8.2kg heroin haul.
Other Australian tourists arrested with small amounts of drugs while holidaying in Bali have served terms of up to six months for drug possession.

WITH uncanny timing, The Sydney Morning Herald has gone in to bat for Keysar Trad, long-time sidekick of Lakemba’s notorious Muslim cleric Sheik Taj Din al-Hilaly, as a Nigerian would-be suicide bomber was dragged from a US plane after unsuccessfully trying to blow it from the skies.
This is not to suggest that Trad or al-Hilaly were aware of the plot to bring down Northwest Airlines Amsterdam-Detroit flight, but rather that SMH writer David Marr overlooks salient points in his attempt to demonise 2GB broadcaster Alan Jones, who last week lost a minor defamation suit Trad brought against him and the station.
The Administrative Decisions Tribunal of NSW fined Jones and 2GB $10,000 and ordered them to frame an apology acceptable to Trad for remarks the broadcaster made in the lead-up to the Cronulla riots of 2005.
Marr does mention “appalling pronouncements” by Muslim cleric Sheik Faiz Mohamad in Bankstown in 2005, when he disgustingly declared that women who were raped had no one but themselves to blame, saying: “She displayed her beauty to the entire world. She degraded herself by being an object of sexual desire and thus becoming vulnerable to man, who looks at her for gratification of his sexual urge.”
Maybe the above video featuring the behaviour of these Lebanese youths, that Jones has been fined $10,000 for daring to object to, their “Multicultural” behaviour, should have been shown to the Labor Party’s Star Chamber.
He does not mention that Jones, broadcasting immediately prior to the Cronulla riots, was clearly aware of incidents at the beach where young Lebanese Muslim men made grossly offensive remarks to local girls and women, when he spoke. The tribunal seems to have ignored the same detail, finding that Jones’s talkback show “implied a partiality for a vigilante solution to the problem” and “could only be regarded as an incitement to listeners to hate and hold the Lebanese Muslim community and Lebanese males in serious contempt”.
In this, I believe the tribunal has taken a particularly narrow view of the evidence and ignored the big picture that actually unfolded on Cronulla beach, with little need of any incitement from Jones or anyone else.
Marr clearly revels in reviling Jones, whom he calls a “shock jock”. There also seems to be a strong streak of envy in his report, as he notes that the fine would amount to “a good deal less than a day’s pay” for the broadcaster.
As for the tribunal, it seems to run along much the same lines as the NSW Anti-Discrimination Board, where Trad’s lawyer Adam Houda once took the opportunity to ask me whether I was Jewish - in the hope, perhaps, that my response would help him understand why I oppose terrorism and suicide bombers who target civilians.
Trad’s victory comes in the wake of the convictions of a dozen people in Australia on terrorism charges. All of them, coincidentally, were Muslim.
Among them was former Qantas cabin cleaner Belal Saadallah Khazaal, who complied a 110-page book titled Provisions of the Rules of Jihad, published online in Arabic as a “practical guide to achieving martyrdom”.
It advised on how to make bombs, shoot down aircraft and assassinate world figures, “within the countries identified as enemies of Islam”, Justice Megan Latham said during sentencing in the NSW Supreme Court. His lawyer, Houda, has said his client, who claims the how-to-be-a-martyr book is really just a religious text, will appeal. Again, this is not to single out Muslims as the principal providers of terrorists internationally. It just happens this more recent of the world’s great religions seems more so than others to find more people who find words that inspire them to suicide in a manner that will inflict gross collateral damage.
Trad has said he wishes to donate the sum he will receive to a Muslim women’s charity. A noble idea, given honour maimings and killings seem to have lingered longer in the Islamic community than most others and many Muslim women in Western nations claim they feel pressured by some in their communities to adopt various items of religious garb or suffer the consequences.
In his haste to accept the tribunal’s view of Trad as a victim, Marr overlooks his contributions to Nida’ul Islam magazine a decade ago when he said Australians were “the criminal dregs of white society [who] colonised this country, and now they only take the select choice of other societies, and the descendants of these criminal dregs tell us they are better than us. And because we are not elitists, we tolerate them.
“Yet they want us to assimilate, perhaps they will only become satisfied when we each die our hair red, wear blue/green contact lenses, and operate a fish and chips shop, otherwise, we would not be truly assimilating, would we?”
Jokes aside, assimilation may not be a bad idea if our Muslim population wants to shake off the image of dole-bludging reinforced by a nearly 50 per cent unemployment rate in some Islamic areas of Western Sydney.
Since European settlement, Australia has peaceably absorbed diverse groups from almost every culture within a generation or so. The Muslim population is young and should be the source of great vitality.
Pandering by bodies such as this tribunal to those like Trad, who represent the stereotypes, hinders the ability of Muslims to contribute to the nation.

YET another boat carrying suspected asylum seekers has been intercepted off Australia's north coast, making it the 60th arrival this year.
The stationary vessel was spotted sometime before 7.30am today about 140 nautical miles (260 kilometres) north of Gove, in the Northern Territory, Home Affairs Minister Brendan O'Connor said in a statement this afternoon.
When Border Protection Command crew went to the boat, the passengers said they wished to come to Australia.
The 30 passengers and three crew members will be taken to Christmas Island to be processed.
Opposition Leader Tony Abbott said Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has lost control of Australia's borders, allowing people smugglers to access the nation via Indonesia.
Mr Abbott said that not only was there a steady flow of boats, but Mr Rudd had also expanded the means of getting into Australia.
"It's not just that you get to Christmas Island and you get to Australia, it now seems that if you get to Indonesia you also get to Australia, because of the deal that Mr Rudd did with the people on the Oceanic Viking,'' Mr Abbott said.
"Mr Rudd has completely lost control of Australia's borders."
A group of 78 Sri Lankans on board the Australian customs ship, were picked up in Indonesia's search and rescue zone in October and taken to Bintan Island.
They eventually accepted a deal from the Rudd government for the speedy processing of their asylum claims while they remained in Indonesia.

One man on the boat, identified by Indonesian authorities as Jacob Samuel Christian, 29, died last Wednesday in hospital.

IRAQ'S dwindling Christian population has little to celebrate this Christmas after a spate of attacks against their community included several being killed and the army being put on alert.
In the main northern city of Mosul, where the Christian minority has long been concentrated, churches have been bombed, Christians gunned down and the community is fearful.
The latest victim was a Christian minibus driver who was killed today in east Mosul by unknown gunmen, police said.
It was the seventh attack targeting Christians in the city in the past month.
"This was all a dream we used to live in for many years, and then the nightmare came back and a black cloud came over us,'' said Jamil Butrus, a 59-year-old Christian lawyer.
"Our joy and parties turned to hell - killing, threats and explosions. You do not know what the aim of it is or who is doing it.''
The Iraqi army has been put on alert in areas with large Christian populations such as Mosul and the surrounding province of Nineveh, the ethnically mixed province of Kirkuk, and in Baghdad.
Troops have been out in force in Mosul since celebrations marking the Islamic new year last week and roads leading to churches have been closed off.
All of the city's churches are now guarded by checkpoints and military patrols.
"Today, the streets that lead to churches look like a military base - they are blocked by barbed wire and concrete barriers with policemen all around,'' said 56-year-old engineer Younis Mekha, a Christian.
"You have to park your car far away and then walk. Policemen or soldiers will give you a scary look and ask you where you are going, tell you to go back, that you are not allowed to go in.
"You tell him: 'Yes, I know, but I am a Christian and I have come to pray.' Then you give him your ID papers and after checking them, he lets you in.''
However the tight security measures have failed to prevent violence.
