Malcolm Turnbull Kevin Rudd Stimulus Package

Turnbull Doorstop with Hockey - Securing our economic future, Kevin Rudd's plan to lump every Australian with $9500 in debt...

The Hon Malcolm Turnbull MP
Leader of the Opposition
Fri, 6th February 2009

Subjects: Securing our economic future; Kevin Rudd's plan to lump every Australian with $9500 in debt; comparable countries using tax cuts for economic stimulus; small business.

MALCOLM TURNBULL:

Well you can see the people we’ve been talking to here are concerned about debt, they’re concerned about the level of debt Kevin Rudd is proposing to run up and the fact that their children and their grandchildren are going to have to pay it off. And they can’t understand why he’s going to take us deeper and deeper into debt – $200 billion in order to fund cash handouts. What will we have to show for that?

Now Reg, you saw the last cash handout, how did that affect your business here?

MR CAIN:

It actually, Malcolm, didn’t affect us here in Gladesville a hell of a lot. We did have people come into the shop before the handout was given and said, ‘I want you to hold that fridge for us’. But they’re still coming in weeks later and still haven’t bought it. So it didn’t affect Gladesville in that sense too much.

MALCOLM TURNBULL:

And what do you think about the idea of another $11 billion being handed out in March?

MR CAIN:

Really I think he’s got to stop shooting from the hip and throwing money at everything, get some infrastructure going, something that’s going to be fundamental down the track, just instead of throwing it away.

MALCOLM TURNBULL:

Well that’s right. Well I think at the moment he is giving drunken sailors a bad name, spending so much money. Look, this is all about the future of Australia. We are facing economic challenges – that’s true. Yes, the Government should act and have an effective economic stimulus but it must be one that works, that gets the maximum bang for every tax payer’s buck. That’s what we are focussed on. We are focussed on prudent investment in the productivity of our economy, investment that will create jobs.

Mr Rudd said his $10 billion cash splash in December would create 75,000 jobs, where are they? We’ve seen no evidence from the Government that it created one job let alone 75,000. And now he’s proposing to back up and do it all over again.

So we’re standing up for good economic management. We’re standing up for the tax payers, but above all we’re standing up for our children because, believe me, when he maxes out our credit card, our national credit, at $200 billion, it will be our children and our grandchildren that will be paying it off for many years to come.

QUESTION:

Mr Turnbull what would happen if you went on this tour in maybe a shopping centre in Penrith and you were talking to shop owners like you just did, what do you think the response would have been from those people and people in Campbeltown?

MALCOLM TURNBULL:

Well to be honest with you from right around Australia we are… Look, when we took this stand I thought it was going to be, I still believe, it will be unpopular. I thought it was going to be poisonously unpopular frankly and we all felt we were going to get hammered into the ground in the opinion polls, and we probably will be, but we took this stand because it was right.

But I have to say it’s been very interesting just looking at the calls we’re getting, and the emails we’re getting, and the feedback we’re getting, is that more and more Australians are starting to say, hang on, this isn’t right? We shouldn’t be spending all of this money and racking up all this debet. Where’s the evidence that it’s going to create jobs? Where’s the evidence that it’s going to make our economy stronger?

So we’ll see. We will see. I have great faith in the common sense of Australians.

JOE HOCKEY:

Just to give clarity there, this is the border of Bennelong and North Sydney. So the suggestion that somehow this is a particularly wealthy area is just dead wrong. Gladesville is middle Australia. Gladesville is very middle Australia and the suggestion somehow that it’s a wealthy area or we didn’t speak to any of the people that are, you know, actually the punters out there is wrong.

QUESTION:

Well what about the elderly in Blacktown or the pensioners in Campbeltown or the people in Rosemeadow who went through what they did last month?

MR CAIN:

Would you like me to speak on say Lismore? Would you class Lismore as middle of the road, because you’ve got Nimbin and those places around it, and I own a store in Lismore and we really didn’t receive too much spending from the last throw away item, I can tell you that and I can show you facts and figures.

QUESTION:

Mr Turnbull what do you make… Kevin Rudd is in Canberra at the moment talking with businesses, unions, schools – a bit optimistic considering the package still hasn’t been passed yet?

MALCOLM TURNBULL:

Well look he’s certainly entitled to talk to whoever he likes. The only person he doesn’t want to talk to or the only people he doesn’t want to talk to are us. What he should be doing is sitting down with the Opposition. We’ve reached out to him and said: let’s work together and see if we can agree on a stimulus package that we can all support. And the Australian people want their leaders in Parliament to work together, but Mr Rudd’s approach, remember, Mr Rudd’s approach was to say, ‘here it is, take it or leave it, you’ve got to pass it through the parliament in 48 hours’. He wanted this legislation passed in 48 hours.

Now because we have stood up for taxpayers, and for our children and for good economic management it’s going to go through scrutiny in the Senate. But he is not interested in negotiation; he is not interested in discussion – and in many ways Kevin Rudd is right out on a limb of his own. Now you’ll recall that we have argued that a better stimulus than another huge handout would be to bring forward the tax cuts that are already legislated for in 2009 and 2010. So they’re the tax cuts the Labor Government legislated for, they were essentially a copy of what we proposed in the last election and had complete support. Bring them forward by 18 months. Mr Rudd and his ministers have said that’s a disgrace, tax cuts have no role as part of an economic stimulus package. And yet every other country in the world, comparable country that is undertaking stimulus measures has included tax cuts. Australia is the only one that hasn’t.

So the person who is out of step with the global response to this is Kevin Rudd.

QUESTION:

Would it be worth sending the Budget into deficit if you were to give more money to small business in terms of keeping jobs, hiring new people, pay rises for those people who are already working?

MR CAIN:

Good question. Very, very good question.

MALCOLM TURNBULL:

Reg, what do you think? There you go – ask a small business proprietor?

MR CAIN:

Why not reduce the payroll tax? We’ve got about 34, 35 people on the staff. We pay about $25,000 a year just for the privilege to employ people. I don’t think that’s a very fair tax. So you could reduce that. You could actually then also put superannuation on hold and that would be a fairer way to everyone to get some money back into the system instead of throwing it at people.

MALCOLM TURNBULL:

Yeah and that’s why Reg what we’ve recommended as a better way to support small business is for the Government to reimburse small businesses for a period, for say two years, for a portion of the superannuation guarantee levy. Now that would put cash back into the hands of every small business. And that of course, the virtue of that is that it benefits every small business whereas payroll tax in New South Wales for example is only paid if you have a payroll that is over $623,000 – that’s the current threshold.

So that is one approach. Look we, unlike Mr Rudd, we don’t believe we’ve got all the answers and we certainly don’t believe we’ve got the only answer. So that’s why we want to sit down with him and talk about effective measures. You see what he has offered small business, the only thing he has offered small business in this package is a 30 per cent depreciation, a tax deduction in effect, for equipment purchased this year. But if you’re a small business and you don’t need any new equipment, maybe you’ve got all the equipment you need, or you’re struggling with your own cash flow problem, that actually isn’t much help at all. Whereas if you give a benefit, be it on payroll tax as Reg canvassed, or on the superannuation guarantee levy, and then you benefit every business, every small business, then you’re actually putting cash back into the small business owners’ hands and above all making the cost of employing people less.

Remember, what is this all about? Jobs, jobs, jobs. Every dollar the Government spends, every policy it undertakes has to be about creating jobs and preserving jobs. And this package is not about jobs, indeed one of the Treasury officials said last night, long term it’s not about supporting jobs. Well it should be about supporting jobs and creating jobs short term, medium term and long term. That is our commitment.

QUESTION:

Mr Turnbull what is your view of Treasury saying the Government needs all $200 billion of the money that it’s seeking to borrow?

MALCOLM TURNBULL:

Well running up the expenses they are they will need to borrow $200 billion, but that’s the whole point. They’re spending too much and they’re borrowing to pay for it. What they’re doing is they’re maxing out the credit card. I mean it’s their decision to spend all this money; they are creating the debt by spending this money.

JOE HOCKEY:

Just to add there the Government has committed $66 billion of new expenditure since the last Budget, and given that it took us 10 years in government to pay of $100 billion of debt, how long will it take to pay of $200 billion of debt, let alone the fact that they’re flagging now that they’re going to have even more.

MALCOLM TURNBULL:

Thanks guys.

Arrest in Mike Smith death threat case "Your head is on a plate. You're going to be dead soon, racist bitch."

Many thanks to Heather for sending this to me,If you are going to threaten to murder someone don't do it via a telephone especially to a radio or television station, better still don't do it at all, just pretend you are a part of the human race and step into the 21st century with all the privileges and RESPONSIBILITIES that entails.
I wont at this stage make any comment as to weather the arrested man is a member of any of Australia's " rich tapestry of cultural diversity " tribes, or indeed a member of the "Religion of Peace" until I know that to be the case.

Hiya Aussie....just thought I'd pass this one on to you.

The mongrel who made death threat via phone to Brisbane radio announcer was arrested...comes from Eight Mile Plains which is just a little south of Brisbane & is now the muslim capital of sth/est Qld. Going back quite a few years it used to be a very quiet farming area...not anymore unfortunately. I hadn't been up that way for some time until recently & omg hardly recognised the area at all with all their mosques everywhere. I think that is one of the major problems with the way they're buying up huge areas of land all throughout major cities/towns across Australia.

Cheers H.

POLICE have arrested a man who allegedly made death threats to a Brisbane radio announcer who criticised women who wear Muslim veils.
4BC Drive presenter Michael Smith allegedly received the threat on January 16 after he suggested Muslim women who wear face coverings in public posed a security risk.

The expletive-riddled recorded message said: "Your head is on a plate. You're going to be dead soon, racist bitch."

A 47-year-old man was arrested at his home at Eight Mile Plains on Brisbane south side after his phone number was traced by detectives.

He was charged with using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence and is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrate's Court on February 19.

Hamas caught with $15million in cash at Rafah border

Hamas negotiators stopped with suitcases stuffed with $15m

SMH
February 6, 2009 - 6:09AM

Hamas negotiators left Egypt without a long-term ceasefire with Israel on Thursday - but not before some members of the militant group's delegation were stopped at the Gaza border with millions in cash.

The delegation walked away from the ceasefire talks because of disagreements over the blockage on Gaza, and over border security, but talks will continue at a later date. Egypt had set Thursday as an expected date for reaching a long-term truce deal.

An Egyptian security official, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to speak to the media, said the group initially refused to be searched by Egyptian authorities at the Rafah border crossing. When the group relented, authorities found $US7 million ($10.9 million) and 2 million euro ($4 million) in cash in their suitcases. Another security official, also speaking on condition of anonymity, said $US9 million and 2 million euro were found. The discrepancy could not be immediately explained.

The money was later deposited in an account in Egypt by a Hamas member who stayed behind while the rest of the delegation was allowed to return to Gaza, the second security official said. It was not clear what would happen to the money.

There was no immediate comment from Hamas.

The incident is a sensitive one for Egypt, particularly now when Israel is demanding a halt to Hamas smuggling into Gaza as part of truce negotiations. Israel complains that Hamas - which gets funding from Iran, Syria and donations from supporters - smuggles money and weapons through Egypt into the Gaza Strip.

Mostly the smuggling is done through tunnels at the border. But in the past - before border crossings were tightly sealed in 2007 - Hamas officials had brought in cash as well. In 2006, a senior Hamas official bragged about successfully carrying $42 million across the border.

Arab banks have generally refused to transfer money to Gaza for fear of running afoul of the United States, which considers Hamas a terrorist organisation. The money has helped keep afloat the Hamas government, which is generally shunned by foreign governments.

Israel and Hamas do not talk directly, so Egypt has been mediating talks on solidifying the shaky ceasefire that went into effect on January 18, ending Israel's three-week offensive on Gaza.

But a Hamas official, Mohammed Nasr, said Thursday that differences over opening the border crossings into Gaza were preventing the deal. Nasr was part of the negotiating team that left Cairo, but he is from the Syria arm of Hamas and not the group returning to Gaza.

Hamas demands that any truce include the full opening of borders into Gaza, which Israel and Egypt have largely kept sealed since Hamas seized control of the territory from Palestinian rivals Fatah in 2007. Hamas also wants a role in administering the border crossings in recognition of its power in Gaza.

Israel says it won't ease the blockade of the densely populated and impoverished coastal strip without international guarantees

Hamas will be prevented from smuggling more weapons into Gaza. It does not want Hamas to have a role in controlling Gaza's border crossings.

Nasr said smuggling would only stop if the borders were open.

"The main point revolves around us getting a clear and honest commitment to lift the blockade completely. We still didn't get that,"

Nasr told The Associated Press before leaving to Damascus. "We have no agreement until we have an agreement on everything."

The deputy head of Hamas, Moussa Abo Marzouk, told the AP by telephone from Damascus that talks have failed so far because of what he called "Israeli stubbornness and setting new conditions at each stage".

He said Israel said it would open the crossings by 70 per cent without giving Hamas details how this percentage would be defined.

Nasr said his group is expecting answers from the Israelis on the border issue. His comments came as Israel's point man on the negotiations arrived in Egypt for talks.

Blast from the past: Democratic (of course)Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid invokes Gandhi

Christian patriots' interrupt Hindu prayer in Senate
'Lord Jesus, forgive us, Father, for allowing … abomination in your sight'

WorldNetDaily.com
July 12, 2007

Three protesters interrupted a Hindu cleric today who became the first from his religion to offer the Senate's opening prayer.

Rajan Zed, director of interfaith relations at a Hindu temple in Reno, Nev., preparing to pray when a clear, loud voice came from the Senate gallery.

"Lord Jesus, forgive us, Father, for allowing the prayer of the wicked, which is an abomination in your sight," said a male protester.

The Senate's sergeant at arms was instructed to restore order, but Zed was interrupted again.

"You shall have no other gods before you. … "

Zed, who was invited by Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, finally offered his prepared prayer.

"We meditate on the transcendental glory of the deity supreme, who is inside the heart of the Earth, inside the life of the sky and inside the soul of the heaven," he said. "May he stimulate and illuminate our minds."

Police officers arrested the three protesters and charged them with disrupting Congress, a misdemeanor, the Associated Press reported. The male protester told an AP reporter, "we are Christians and patriots" before officers handcuffed them and led them away.

Reid, in remarks from the chamber shortly after the prayer, defended his choice, tying it to the intense debate over the Iraq war.

"If people have any misunderstanding about Indians and Hindus, all they have to do is think of Gandhi," a man "who gave his life for peace," Reid said.

"I think it speaks well of our country that someone representing the faith of about a billion people comes here and can speak in communication with our heavenly Father regarding peace," said Reid.

The AP said Capitol police identified the protesters as Ante Nedlko Pavkovic, Katherine Lynn Pavkovic and Christan Renee Sugar.

The Gandhi nobody knows, see below, maybe Harry Reid and his fellow traveler's do, and that's why they have such, to steal a recently released book title, a 'Slobbering Lover Affair ' with him.

Sodomy now a cultural difference" in Afghanistan

World court inquiry sought in Afghan rapes

Rick Westhead
STAFF REPORTER
The Star
December 15, 2008

The International Criminal Court should probe allegations some Canadian officers serving in Afghanistan told subordinates to look the other way when Afghan soldiers and local interpreters sodomized young boys, says one of Canada's leading human-rights lawyers.

University of British Columbia international law and politics expert Michael Byers, who was among a group of academics who sought to have former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet detained as a war criminal, said he plans to ask the ICC to begin its own inquiry into the charges.

In a story published yesterday in the Star, former Canadian soldier Tyrel Braaten said that during his tour of duty in Afghanistan in 2006, he witnessed Afghan interpreters bringing young boys inside buildings at Forward Operating Base Wilson, a remote Canadian base outside Kandahar. The boys were then sodomized by the interpreters and Afghan soldiers, Braaten said.

Other Canadian soldiers have complained to chaplains and military medical personnel that officers told them not to get involved because the sodomy was tantamount to "cultural differences."

If the allegations are true, Byers said, they will reflect more poorly on the Canadian military than the scandal in the 1993 in Somalia when Canadian soldiers tortured and murdered a Somali teenager who snuck into a Canadian base.

"We're spending $18 billion on this mission in Afghanistan and it's engaged the hearts and minds of 33 million Canadians in different ways," Byers said in a phone interview from London. "The rape of children in a conflict zone is at least as serious as the torture of that young Somalian during the Canadian mission there."

Also yesterday, Afghanistan's ambassador to Canada said the Ministry of Defence in Kabul is aware of the allegations levelled by Braaten and others, but won't act until it receives more detailed information from Canada. "These allegations go back to 2006, not something that occurred just last week," said Ambassador Omar Samad. "We don't have names, dates and legal testimony."

The Canadian Forces' National Investigation Service is investigating the allegations and is expected to complete its probe in the spring. A military board of inquiry, meantime, is also investigating and is going to extraordinary lengths to find prospective witnesses. In some instances, the board's investigating officers are using Facebook to obtain soldiers' lists of friends and contacting them to ask about the alleged rapes, according to several soldiers contacted in this manner.

Still, Byers said he wants the ICC to investigate because he has "concerns about self-investigation and the demonstrated delays in the Canadian military's investigation of alleged detainee abuse."

Based in The Hague and established in 2002, the ICC can investigate, prosecute and punish serious violations of international law, including genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity.

The former U.S. ambassador at large for war crimes issues during the Clinton administration, David Scheffer, said in an interview it would be difficult to coax the ICC to pursue rape allegations "unless a real case could be made that Canada is unwilling or unable genuinely to investigate its own military conduct."

As lawyers yesterday debated murky legal questions, such as whether Canada has jurisdiction to charge Afghan citizens who work for Canada as interpreters, some military sources said they weren't surprised by Braaten's claims.

"It's common knowledge that young boys are used in this way in Afghanistan," said Brad Adams, executive director of the Asia division of Human Rights Watch. "It's the great dichotomy of Afghanistan. Homosexuality is treated as a cardinal sin, but it's still common for men to have sex with boys."

Moreover, Adams said he wasn't surprised that some Canadian soldiers say they were told to ignore cases of abuse."

"I think (Western soldiers) look the other way about a number of things, like opium production and warlordism. They are looking the other way on almost everything."

During 2006, FOB was regularly being attacked by Taliban armed with rocket-propelled grenades and mortars, a possible reason why abuse accusations haven't garnered more scrutiny until now.

"I think it's safe to say that they had other worries, like how they were staying alive," said retired Canadian major-general Lewis MacKenzie.

MacKenzie said while the interpreters would have travelled on and off the base freely, after they were screened by Canadian security, young boys would be another matter. "It would have been abnormal for them to have been allowed on the base."

Asked about protocol for allowing civilians on bases in Afghanistan, a CF spokesperson described it as a "rigorous and robust" program.

Soldier recalls cries from boy brought onto Canadian base

The Star
Dec 14, 2008

"The boy was no more than 12. He wore a wig, lipstick and perfume and was dressed in a flowing robe when an Afghan interpreter escorted him to the entrance of the Canadian base in remote Afghanistan.
It was June 2006 and it was one of Tyrel Braaten's first days at Forward Operating Base Wilson, about 30 kilometres outside Kandahar.
Braaten watched as the local interpreter, who worked for the Canadians, ushered the boy through the security checkpoint and led him inside a nearby building.
The bombardier was bewildered. He asked another interpreter standing next to him who the boy was. The interpreter shrugged that the boy was one of "the bitches."
"I said, `What do you mean?' and he made the motion with his hips, like you know," said Braaten, 24. "I remember saying, `Are we on Mars? Does this s--- go on all the time?'"
Al-Qaeda accused of using male rape to 'create' suicide bombers

By Staff Writer,

Islamic terrorists are raping young men in order to drive them into suicide bombings.

The Sun quotes Algerian militant Abu Baçir El Assimi:

"The sexual act on young recruits aged between 16 to 19 was a means to urge them to commit suicide operations."

The paper claims that "intense social stigma and fear of more gay sex attacks leaves Muslims prepared to die."

Rape and homosexual acts are punishable by death under Sharia law.

A suspected terrorist bomber killed in an attempted attack on a security installation in the Tizi Ouzou province of Algeria last month may have been raped, an autopsy revealed.

News source Ennahar Online said there was "a large tear in the anus of the terrorist, which confirms the sexual abuse. In addition, semen analysis is underway to determine the perpetrator.

"The young terrorist subject of sexual abuse, was aged 22, from Diar El Djemaâ, ElHarrach. He would have joined terrorist groups in March 2008.

"He was a candidate to execute a suicide operation in the region of Boumerdes."

The al-Qaeda terrorist movement is a loose association spread across nations from Algeria to Iraq.

Terrorists have been trained in camps in Sudan and Afghanistan.

Cells operating in the US and western Europe have claimed responsibility for a range of suicide attacks including the attacks on New York and Washington DC on September 11th 2001. Al-Qaeda has also been linked to an insurgency in Algeria.

Characteristic al-Qaeda techniques include suicide attacks and simultaneous bombings of different targets.

Afghan boy dancers sexually abused by former warlords
Reuters
Sun Nov 18, 2007
PUL-E KHUMRI, Afghanistan (Reuters) - They are known as "bacha bereesh", boys without beards, teenage boys who dress up as girls and dance for male patrons at parties in northern Afghanistan.
It's an age old practice that has led to some of the boy dancers being turned into sex slaves by wealthy and powerful patrons, often former warlords, who dress the boys up as girls, shower them with gifts and keep them as "mistresses".
Afghan police are battling to crackdown on the practice which has angered Islamic clerics who say those involved should be stoned for sodomy, forbidden under Islamic law.
In a society where the sexes are strictly segregated, it is common for men to dance for other men at weddings in Afghanistan.

But in northern Afghanistan, former warlords and mujahideen commanders have taken that a step further with competitions for their dancing boys. "Every boy tries to be the first. They are dressed in women's clothes, have bells on their feet and have artificial breasts," said Mohammad Yawar, a former mujahideen fighter against the Taliban and resident of the northern town of Pul-e Khumri.

The practice, called "bacha bazi" -- literally "boy play" -- has a long history in northern Afghanistan, but sometimes it does not stop with just dancing.
"I very much enjoy hugging a boy. His smell and fragrance kills me," said Yawar.

The 38-year-old businessman said he recruited a 15-year-old boy three years ago to help him with his work.
"I have had him for at least three years, since he was only 15. He was looking for a job and I gave him somewhere to stay," said Yawar, showing the boy's picture. "I don't have a wife. He is like my wife. I dress him in women's clothes and have him sleep beside me. I enjoy him and he is my everything," he said, kissing the photograph.

MARK OF PRESTIGE
Having the best-looking boy and the best dancer is a mark of prestige. "Everyone tries to have the best, most handsome and good-looking boy," said a former mujahideen commander, who declined to be named. "Sometimes we gather and make our boys dance and whoever wins, his boy will be the best boy."
Former mujahideen commanders hold such parties in and around Pul-e Khumri about once a week. "Having a boy has become a custom for us. Whoever wants to show off, should have a boy," said Enayatullah, a 42-year-old landowner in Baghlan province. "I was married to a woman 20 years ago, she left me because of my boy," he said. "I was playing with my boy every night and was away from home, eventually my wife decided to leave me. I am happy with my decision, because I am used to sleeping and entertaining with my young boy." The men say they lavish money and gifts on their boys.

"I was only 14-years-old when a former Uzbek commander forced me to have sex with him," said Shir Mohammad in Sar-e Pol province. "Later, I quit my family and became his secretary. I have been with him for 10 years, I am now grown up, but he still loves me and I sleep with him." Ahmad Jawad, aged 17, has been with a wealthy landowner for the past two years. "I am used to it. I love my lord. I love to dance and act like a woman and play with my owner," he said. Asked what he would do when he got older, he said: "Once I grow up, I will be an owner and I will have my own boys."

Watch this video until the end.

But Shir Mohammad, at 24, was already getting too old to be a dancing boy. "I am grown up now and do not have the beauty of former years. So, I proposed to marry my lord's daughter and he has agreed to it."

POVERTY

Many local residents have called for a crackdown, but are skeptical it will work as many of the men are powerful and well-armed former commanders.
Jahan Shah, who lives in Pul-e Khumri, said government and security officials should take tough action against unIslamic and immoral acts. "If they don't stop this, it will become a custom and hundreds of other boys will be involved in it," he said.

Police and security officials in northern Afghanistan say they have been doing their best to arrest the men involved.
"It is sad to state that this practice that includes making boys dance, sexual abuse and sometimes even selling boys, has been going on for years," said General Asadollah Amarkhil, the security chief of Kunduz province. "We have taken steps to stop it to the extent that we are able," he said. Amarkhil said poverty, widespread in Afghanistan after nearly three decades of war, forced teenage boys into compliance. "We have taken very strict measures to save the lives of the boys and punish the men," he said. "We are monitoring to find out where these men and boys gather, then go there and arrest them."

Those found guilty of abuse would be jailed for at least 15 years, said Baghlan chief prosecutor Hafizullah Khaliqyar.
"We have 25 cases of such immoral acts. They are being processed and we are trying our utmost to tackle the problem," he said. Islamic scholars recommended harsher punishment. "Those who do this are the devil," said Mawlawi Mohammad Sadiq Sadiqyar, a scholar and prayer leader in the main northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif.

"Under Islamic law, those who practice this should be stoned to death."
But some of the men say they are not interested in women. "We know it is immoral and unIslamic, but how can we quit? We do not like women, we just want boys," said Chaman Gul, aged 35 of Takhar province.

Abuse of Afghan Boys
My Pet Jawa

In a world where political correctness dictates cultural equivalency, it's impossible for me to understand how the PC crowd can ignore
reports like this one.
Afghanistan must do more to end an age-old practice of young boys being kept as sex slaves by wealthy and powerful patrons,
the
U.N. special representative for children and armed conflict said on Monday.

Radhika Coomaraswamy said the practice, called "bacha bazi" -- literally "boy play" -- was a taboo subject, but she had heard reports of warlords and military commanders keeping young boys and "exploiting them in terrible ways."
"What I found was nobody talks about it; everyone says 'Well, you know, it's been there for 1,000 years so why do we want to raise this now?'" she told a news conference at U.N. headquarters, reporting on a visit to Afghanistan last week.
"That seems to be the general attitude among everyone, but somebody has to raise it and it has to be dealt with."
Known as "bacha bereesh," boys without beards, the victims of such abuse are teenage boys who dress up as girls and dance for male patrons at parties in northern Afghanistan.

Cultural equivalency? I don't think so. Even the UN is against it.

Who said Islamic "men" feel threatened by women ..........?

If you are revolted by the material in this post ask yourself why the Leftist apologists and facilitators for Islam in the west, demand that you be forbidden to express your revultion, publicly, why would those who demand you accept that "Islam is a Religion of Peace" under threat of death or mutilation object to this type of behavior and much much worse, been rejected by you and your children ?
Worse still why would they demand that you live along side of and respect the followers of this "Religion of Peace" under threat of criminal sanction via the Multicutural /Cultural Diversity /Anti Discrimination / Religious /Racial Intolerance legislation?

Islam, the United Nation's rabid Mad Dog, off the leash and running, what better way to destroy Judeo / Christian western society, than to allow the injection of savage, violent stone age cultures with their stone age Godless practice's, all promoted and facilitated under the International Socialist Cultural Diversity / Multiculturalism "all cultures are equal" philosophy.

I read a quote that went along the lines of "Great civilizations are not conqured they simply commit suicide",how fitting to describe the last 40 years of western society.

A slow creeping death of our values, standards and institutions.

“ If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival.

“There may be even a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than live as slaves”

Australia,Indonesia warns Kevin 07 "more illegal immigrants on the way"

Thanks to Kevin 07.......Australian Prime Minister, Kevin "I have never been a Socialist" Rudd, and his Socialist government for sending the message world wide, at every opportunity they can, that he and his government are soft on illegals.
I guess we should take Indonesia at their word / threat.

And the challenge of migration?

SMH
Paul Sheehan
August 4, 2008

Did you know the Rudd Government is implementing the biggest immigration program since the end of World War II, and the biggest intake, in absolute numbers of permanent immigrants and temporary workers, in Australia's history?

Did you know the migration program for 2008-09 has set a target of 190,300 places, a robust 20 per cent increase over the financial year just ended?

On budget night, May 13, amid the avalanche of material released by the Government, the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, Senator Chris Evans, issued a press release stating, among other things: "The use of 457 visas to employ temporary skilled migrant workers has grown rapidly in recent years. A total of 39,500 subclass 457 visas was granted in 2003-04 compared with an expected 100,000 places in each of 2007-08 and 2008-09." That is a 150 per cent increase in four years.

Did you know the number of overseas students coming to Australia is also at a record high, with 228,592 student visas granted in 2006-07, a 20 per cent increase over the previous year?

Under the Rudd Government, Australia's net immigration intake is now larger than Britain's, even though it has almost three times the population of Australia. To put all this in perspective, the immigration program in the Rudd Government's first year is 150 per cent bigger than it was in the Howard government's first year. The immigration intake is running almost 60 per cent higher than it was three years ago.

On November 14 last year, when Kevin Rudd launched Labor's election campaign, he mentioned at length the challenges of climate change and water shortages: "It is irresponsible for any national government of Australia to stand idly by while our major cities are threatened by the insecurity of water supply." While presenting a commendable shift away from John Howard's inertia on these issues, his policy is breathtakingly inconsistent. Not only did Rudd commit to a policy of building high-energy desalination plants for Australia's main cities, he has also committed Australia to record levels of immigration.

Talk about shifting sands. To quote Rudd in this same keynote speech: "Mr Howard lacked the decency to even mention Work Choices at all during his 4400-word policy speech on Monday. Work Choices has become the industrial relations law that now dare not speak its name."

Rudd did not have the decency to mention immigration once in his 4300-word campaign launch. It is the most glaring inconsistency of his Government.

The immigration figures quoted above do not even include New Zealanders, who are not counted as part of Australia's annual migration program, nor do they include people who have overstayed their visas. Add another 50,000 or so people to an equation which will see a million people added to the population during the three-year term of the Rudd Government. The only element in Australia's immigration program that is not going gangbusters is the refugee and humanitarian intake, which remains static at 13,500 places a year.

It was not until Evans made his first key policy speech last week that I began to appreciate the scale of the Government's selective silences. He began with a ritual bashing of his Liberal predecessor as minister, Kevin Andrews, who is now not even in the Opposition shadow outer ministry and would do his party a favour if he retired.

After the point-scoring Evans got to the essence: "Today I want to announce … [that] mandatory detention is an essential component of strong border control … [but] children and, where possible, their families, will not be detained in an immigration detention centre … Detention that is indefinite or otherwise arbitrary is not acceptable … Detention in immigration detention centres is only to be used as a last resort and for the shortest practicable time …"

It was not until the last paragraph of his long speech that Evans got to the core point: "In the future, the immigration system will be characterised by strong border security, firm deterrence of unauthorised arrivals, effective and robust immigration processes and respect for the rule of law and the humanity of those seeking migration outcomes."

Sounds like Howard. In other words, the fundamentals of the system are not going to be changed. The Rudd Labor Government is not dismantling the detention system first set up by the Keating Labor. It is not ending the excision of Australian territory from the Immigration Act, which prevents asylum-seekers from entering Australian territory via offshore islands. It is not ending the detention of adults until security and health checks are completed. It is not cutting funding for navy border patrols. It is maintaining the new Christmas Island detention centre, far from Australia's shores, and capable of housing 800 people short-term, as a place to warehouse any new wave of boat people.

The fundamentals have not changed because they cannot change. The electorate holds dear the principle that people cannot determine when and how they will move to a new country, bypassing immigration controls or refugee programs. This is elementary to a nation's sovereignty.

The hysterics in the refugee and mandatory detention debates have always thrown around words like "shame" and "gulags" and engaged in moral relativism, comparing Howard to Saddam Hussein, while refusing to recognise that there are real consequences of failures of immigration policy. Thousands of Australian have paid a heavy price for the failed refugee-vetting processes in the 1970s and 1980s, when many people who should never have been allowed into the country were approved. We are still paying the price.

Labor learned the hard way that to compromise border security is to invite political disaster. This is why the Rudd Government is still talking tough on border security, and has a major immigration policy but dare not speak its name.

Rudd Govt's Immigration Policy an Invitation to Chaos

The Australian Labor Part, ALP, is the political arm of the Marxist based Australian Council of Trade Unions,ACTU,this organization supposedly represents the interests of "the workers" "working families" how is the ALP /ACTU's immigration policy in the interests of the workers?
The biggest insult to the workers is that not only are they forced to watch their jobs and standard of living go south, they are also forced to fund the political party that legislates to do so, the ACTU funded ALP.

Denmark's Warning to North America...Australia

Thanks to Canada's Human Rights Commissions, we've almost lost the battle before it can really begin. SALUTE to Denmark... this could very well happen here on our continent.

Salute the Danish Flag - It's a Symbol of Western Freedom

by Susan MacAllen

In 1978-9 I was living and studying in Denmark. But in 1978, even in Copenhagen, one didn't see Muslim immigrants. The Danish population embraced visitors, celebrated the exotic, went out of its way to protect each of its citizens. It was proud of its new brand of socialist liberalism one in development since the conservatives had lost power in 1929 - a system where no worker had to struggle to survive, where one ultimately could count upon the state as in, perhaps, no other western nation at the time.

The rest of Europe saw the Scandinavians as free-thinking, progressive and infinitely generous in their welfare policies. Denmark boasted low crime rates, devotion to the environment, a superior educational system and a history of humanitarianism.

Denmark was also most generous in its immigration policies - it offered the best welcome in Europe to the new immigrant: generous welfare payments from first arrival plus additional perks in transportation, housing and education. It was determined to set a world example for inclusiveness and multiculturalism.

How could it have predicted that one day in 2005 a series of political cartoons in a newspaper would spark violence that would leave dozens dead in the streets -all because its commitment to multiculturalism would come back to bite?

By the 1990's the growing urban Muslim population was obvious - and its unwillingness to integrate into Danish society was obvious.

Years of immigrants had settled into Muslim-exclusive enclaves. As the Muslim leadership became more vocal about what they considered the decadence of Denmark's liberal way of life, the Danes - once so welcoming - began to feel slighted. Many Danes had begun to see Islam as incompatible with their long-standing values: belief in personal liberty and free speech, in equality for women, in tolerance for other ethnic groups, and a deep pride in Danish heritage and history.

An article by Daniel Pipes and Lars Hedegaard, in which they forecasted accurately that the growing immigrant problem in Denmark would explode. In the article they reported:

"Muslim immigrants constitute 5 percent of the population but consume upwards of 40 percent of the welfare spending. Muslims are only 4 percent of Denmark's 5.4 million people but make up a majority of the country's convicted rapists, an especially combustible issue given that practically all the female victims are non-Muslim. Similar, if lesser, disproportions are found in other crimes."

"Over time, as Muslim immigrants increase in numbers, they wish less to mix with the indigenous population. A recent survey finds that only 5 percent of young Muslim immigrants would readily marry a Dane. Forced marriages - promising a newborn daughter in Denmark to a male cousin in the home country, then compelling her to marry him, sometimes on pain of death - are one problem."

"Muslim leaders openly declare their goal of introducing Islamic law once Denmark's Muslim population grows large enough - a not-that-remote prospect. If present trends persist, one sociologist estimates, every third inhabitant of Denmark in 40 years will be Muslim."

It is easy to understand why a growing number of Danes would feel that Muslim immigrants show little respect for Danish values and laws. An example is the phenomenon common to other European countries and Canada: some Muslims in Denmark who opted to leave the Muslim faith have been murdered in the name of Islam, while others hide in fear for their lives. Jews are also threatened and harassed openly by Muslim leaders in Denmark, a country where once Christian citizens worked to smuggle out nearly all of their 7,000 Jews by night to Sweden - before the Nazis could invade. I think of my Danish friend Elsa - who as a teenager had dreaded crossing the street to the bakery every morning under the eyes of occupying Nazi soldiers - and I wonder what she would say today.

In 2001, Denmark elected the most conservative government in some 70 years - one that had some decidedly non-generous ideas about liberal unfettered immigration. Today Denmark has the strictest immigration policies in Europe. (Its effort to protect itself has been met with accusations of "racism" by liberal media across Europe - even as other governments struggle to right the social problems wrought by years of too-lax immigration.)

If you wish to become Danish, you must attend three years of language classes. You must pass a test on Denmark's history, culture, and a Danish language test. You must live in Denmark for 7 years before applying for citizenship. You must demonstrate an intent to work, and have a job waiting. If you wish to bring a spouse into Denmark, you must both be over 24 years of age, and you won't find it so easy anymore to move your friends and family to Denmark with you.

You will not be allowed to build a mosque in Copenhagen. Although your children have a choice of some 30 Arabic culture and language schools in Denmark, they will be strongly encouraged to assimilate to Danish society in ways that past immigrants weren't.

In 2006, the Danish minister for employment, Claus Hjort Frederiksen, spoke publicly of the burden of Muslim immigrants on the Danish welfare system, and it was horrifying: the government's welfare committee had calculated that if immigration from Third World countries were blocked, 75 percent of the cuts needed to sustain the huge welfare system in coming decades would be unnecessary. In other words, the welfare system as it existed was being exploited by immigrants to the point of eventually bankrupting the government. "We are simply forced to adopt a new policy on immigration.

The calculations of the welfare committee are terrifying and show how unsuccessful the integration of immigrants has been up to now," he said. A large thorn in the side of Denmark's imams is the Minister of Immigration and Integration, Rikke Hvilshoj. She makes no bones about the new policy toward immigration, "The number of foreigners coming to the country makes a difference,"

Hvilshøj says, "There is an inverse correlation between how many come here and how well we can receive the foreigners that come."

And on Muslim immigrants needing to demonstrate a willingness to blend in, "In my view, Denmark should be a country with room for different cultures and religions. Some values, however, are more important than others. We refuse to question democracy, equal rights, and freedom of speech."

Hvilshoj has paid a price for her show of backbone. Perhaps to test her resolve, the leading radical imam in Denmark, Ahmed Abdel Rahman Abu Laban, demanded that the government pay blood money to the family of a Muslim who was murdered in a suburb of Copenhagen, stating that the family's thirst for revenge could be thwarted for money. When Hvilshoj dismissed his demand, he argued that in Muslim culture the payment of retribution money was common, to which Hvilshoj replied that what is done in a Muslim country is not necessarily what is done in Denmark. The Muslim reply came soon after: her house was torched while she, her husband and children slept. All managed to escape unharmed, but she and her family were moved to a secret location and she and other ministers were assigned bodyguards for the first time - in a country where such murderous violence was once so scarce.

Her government has slid to the right, and her borders have tightened. Many believe that what happens in the next decade will determine whether Denmark survives as a bastion of good living, humane thinking and social responsibility, or whether it becomes a nation at civil war with supporters of Sharia law.

And meanwhile, Canadians clamor for stricter immigration policies, and demand an end to state welfare programs that allow many immigrants to live on the public dole. As we in Canada look at the enclaves of Muslims amongst us, and see those who enter our shores too easily, dare live on our taxes, yet refuse to embrace our culture, respect our traditions, participate in our legal system, obey our laws, speak our language, appreciate our history... we would do well to look to Denmark, and say a prayer for her future and for our own.

I edited some details at the end of this article for security reasons only.
